If done right it would be amazing. What would your casting be like? I see Bruce Campbell making a marvelous Jim. I don't know anything about Earthworm Jim, but casting Bruce Campbell would be an incredible idea. I imagine that if Earthworm Jim were to be made into a film, it would be CGI animated feature. However, the ideal image in my head is for Bruce to appear in a live-action part of the film dressed in the worst worm costume in the world with his face clearly sticking out, somewhat like the Crash Bandicoot costume from the commercials. Just having Bruce Campbell do the voice wouldn't cut it; I want to hear and see Bruce.

In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
Directed by Uwe Boll
Once there was a farmer named Farmer who lived in a kingdom where a mage went crazy and raised a deadly mindless army of muddy orc things and killed his son while kidnapping his wife. So he swore revenge and went after them, getting himself involved in a massive war and his own heritage.
If you simply MUST have your LOTR fix as a man dying of thirst needs any kind of water than this is the movie for you! It's based on a game I've heard of but never played and made by a director who doesn't seem to care all that much about plotholes, acting, or a story even making sense sometimes.
Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they're right for the role. Burt Reynolds as a medieval king, Ray Liotta as an insane sorceror, and Leelee Sobieski as a princess/sorceress of some sort stand out to illustrate this here. I guess the pay was good. I would say that this was bad for these people's careers, but that only applies if lots of people see the movie.

the Hitman movie wasn't that bad really
and the Tomb Raider movies at least deserve points for having Angelina Jolie in skin tight suits

Warning: Trailer contains violence and gore Onechanbara: Samurai Bikini Squad (2008)In the far off year of 20XX the D3 corporation has accidentally unleashed a zombie virus upon the earth and now the undead wander the landscape looking for people to eat. Aya, a bikini-clad zombie killer searches the countryside with her chunky annoying comic relief sidekick for her sister Saki. Meeting up with a master gunfighter woman named Reiko they suddenly get a lead as they find out that a mad scientist needs Aya's blood for his experiments and has an army of zombies that is actually a match for the two superwomen. This movie is based on a videogame on the XBOX 360 which looked to me like one of those button-mashers and the movie itself looks pretty much like a videogame itself. There's lots of digital blood throughout most of it and when the superpowers of these women show themselves it becomes like Dragonball Z. At least the women here are super hot and the story moves at a quick pace despite the Charlie Brown-like sidekick guy. Better than most videogame films.

Warning: Trailer contains violence and gore Tekken (2010)In a dystopian future mega-corporations run countries, with the U.S. ruled by the Tekken Corporation and it's strict leader Heihachi Mishima (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa). Jin (John Foo) eeks out a living by the skin of his teeth as a thief, extremely good at staying alive because of training his mother gave him. When his mother is killed by Tekken forces he decides to put his skills to better use by entering the Tekken Iron Fist Tournament. With the help of a savvy manager (Luke Goss) he actually gets into the WWE-type tourney, which seems like the "bread and circuses" entertainment to distract the public from their sorry lot in life in the slums. Jin just wants to get to Heihachi for revenge, but the corporate leader's son Kazuya (Ian Anthony Dale) wants leadership for himself. A sudden twist in the story makes the tournament into a Mortal Kombat-type match and all of the fighters must now fight for their lives. All that Tekken is is a fighting game with no real story. All you do is fight opponents to win. It works as an interactive experience and continues to spawn sequels. The movie winds up actually making a decent story where there was none before. The fights are intense and bloody, better than Mortal Kombat (1995). I was very enamored with Christie's (Kelly Overton) outfits that are about 1/3 revealing in the back. Let me put it to you this way: as a sports movie it's good, as a martial arts movie it's very good, and as a video game movie it's excellent.

Red Faction: Origins (2011)
In the future on Mars the Red Faction forces were able to push Earth Defense Forces off the planet and live in an extremely fragile peace with the Marauders, a tribe of dwellers in the desert there. The hero of the revolution Alex Mason (Robert Patrick) lost his family except for his security force son, Jake (Brian J. Smith) and now lives in drunken misery. A crashed EDF ship leads Jake to a bunch of white-clad rebels who have a massive plan to destroy the Red Faction and retake Mars - with the help of Jake's long lost sister (Tamzin Merchant).
The whole film is very cliched naturally since it was on the Syfy Channel. The Red Faction games were mostly cool with the idea of revolution layered throughout. This story doesn't really have any of that so it's just a typical adventure flick. Not very impressive and Merchant's tangled eyelashes are pretty distracting.

I recently rented and watched Wreck-It Ralph. I thought it was pretty good and worthwhile buying. I would describe it as a cross between Toy Story and Tron. It really seems it was made with the input of people who love video games.
There was a little bit of concern when I saw the Sarah Silverman character in trailers, as it seems the character archetype is a contractual obligation in every Disney film. In this movie, it still worked.
Mostly, I appreciated the subtle nods to video games, such as the Nicelanders who have jerky movements and turn at 90 degree angles or a splattered cake makes almost pixelated mess. During the end credits, it's amusing to watch Ralph assist Ryu smash the car during the Street Fighter II bonus stage. Even cameo characters like Zangief, M. Bison, Eggman, and Tapper are nicely modeled.
It's a very satisfying movie.

Cecil Trachenburg made this video earlier this year, and I think it has a lot of relevance to this forum thread. I believe he makes a lot of sense, and movie-makers should take a look, as well as producers, if they really want to make a good buck on a film made after a video game.
