This might be better suited for a blog (mods, admins, if it is please let me know and I'll move it), but I don't see a lot of threads on 45s, so I thought I'd post it here.
When I was growing up, my mom kept a Columbia 45 record holder full of records she had growing up as teenager near the stereo in our house. We never played them until I became a teenager myself and got into music of the mid-80s to early-90s alternative rock. We bonded over the fact that her version of Otis Blackwell's Handy Man was the Jimmy Jones version, while mine was the Frank Black and Teenage Fanclub version.
Mom passed away a couple years ago, and I seized the record case out of fear that it would get lost in the shuffle somewhere (dad, love him, is not the most sentimental slob on the planet).
So I decided to list these as a tribute to the medium of 45 records from any era - even though these are primarily from the 50s (I believe).
I listed them by record in the order they were in the case. Except for one record, I did not see a year of release. Listed artist(s) in bold, tracks in italics and record label in plain text. In most cases, the label does not indicate a side one or side two, so I did not designate a side in the list. Where there were sides listed, I listed the sides in order (always the same number of songs on both sides).
Incidentally, they all appear in exquisite condition. If only I had a record player to listen to them (I've listened to many at my parents' home over the years, but not nearly all). Looks like I'll have to finally go out and get one
