Well folks, next Wednesday morning I will depart SoCal, as I've decided to move in with my brother Jim and his wife in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Oh My God!
I've been in the LA area since 1982. When I look at the (concrete lined) L.A. River, it seems completely natural, now.
The last time rain fell on me was...I don't even know.
I know that I, a hedonistic, athiest with a history of substance abuse may have some problems living with a straight-arrow, Christian couple, but I do know they love me.
And Jim is a mechanical engineer, and could possibly help out my job search with his many contacts.
I've been on unemployment since Christmas, but I've had this move in the back of my mind the whole time. I haven't seen him or my sister (Port Clinton, Ohio) since my parents passed away in 1992.
His two kids (Jenean and Bryan) have grow, went to college, married, and have recently each had their own babies. The last time I saw them they were only yay-high.
So that makes me a Great Uncle, I guess.
That also makes me the worst uncle on record, officially. (I hate crying in the public library)
But this sprinkle is nothing compared to the downpour that will happen over the Fourth of July, because his kids are coming to visit us all.
I am looking forward to that re-union!
I understand they only sell liquor in tiny airline-size bottles in that state.
But maybe the cigarettes will be less than $5.75/pack.
Silver linings, folks.
If this thread should be re-located, feel free.
By the way, I have offered up my PSP for an extended loan in the Games Section.
Bye for Now!
Bix
