Is this a recent CT email? What gives CT? I just got it this morning. The main subject was announcing their upcoming 5 live shows in LA. The last line said that they'll also be recording their next set of DVD's while they're all in LA.

They'll be doing everything they've done before, PLUS Legacy of Blood.

I freaked out a little there. Its good to know they are going to get back to making a DVD, which makes sense with the holidays looming in the near future. The big question is which movies are they recording for DVD? I saw Danger on Tiki Island live in ATL and it was awesome, but I'm really anxious to see East Meets Watts. I love Kung-Fu/Blacksploitation films. They're a hoot! Of course, I'm merely assuming that they are recording the ones that they do for their live show. When Joel made his poorly worded announcement about "taking the summer off", there was some belief that they may not record any of the LIVE movies to DVD--which I was pretty pissed about... but I guess we'll see.

I believe they'll be recording all three of the films they did in Chicago. The question is, in what order will they be released?

I mean, that would be crazy if they didn't--especially as hard as it is to get rights to movies... If they have the rights, then just do them and get them on DVD already. Plus, what 3 films are more perfect than Danger on Tiki Island, Alien Factor, and East Meets Watts for the CT crew? You know as many times as they've done these live, these 3 should be the easiest to record in studio. I can't wait for more DVD action!

Personally, I think $45 a ticket is a bit steep for a live show. I mean, I'm sure it's worth it and all, but I'd rather they take the same approach Rifftrax did with the live show simulcast in 200 theaters at once for $12.50.

I bet they would do that if they could. They don't really have the backing or popularity that RiffTrax has, though. And the tickets for the LA event are $35 each, not $45. Still seems a little overpriced, but Rifftrax was charging $25 each for those live SanFran shows last year, so it's not an absurd price for live riffing. I'm not sure what the best analog to seeing the Titans live in a theater, but I certainly paid more than $35 to see Flight of the Conchords live in a theater, and that wasn't in Los Angeles. And they were mostly playing material that had already been released on CD/DVD, unlike most of the CT shows.

$45 divided by 5. Think about it.
Having seen them 6 times now, all I can say is IT'S WORTH IT!!! You get to see them interact with each other, you . . . oh, I've posted this before.

Cool about the live LA shows! Finally! And the Largo is a cool venue, too (much more intimate than the Ford Ampitheater). I already have my tix for "The Alien Factor" on 10/28, but I'm really hoping to get to go to "East Meets Watts" the next night, too. Just trying to find someone to go with.

Hope they release something by Christmas. They've been away so long (DVD release wise) and it's been a while since the live show in my sector that they kind of have dropped off my radar.
I know some folks knocked Joel for over hyping and promoting, but I think you gotta do that. You have to keep fresh product (DVDs) circulating, keep the info (blogs, mails) steady with exciting new news. It's can't be a good sign when a CT zealot like me is losing interest.
A great new release by years end would stoke the fires.

Josh's email this week said "We're looking forward to both these shows and having new DVDs ready for everyone coming soon. We appreciate the patience as well as the impatience - as long as you care a little."
So I think they understand that folks want the DVD's, even if they enjoy the live shows more. Hopefully means a) they recorded another set of 3 to keep the pipeline full for a while, and b) "coming soon" means we'll have one this year.

I just had a really bad experience with an airline a couple of days ago and I'm really starting to question flying to these shows anymore. I hope this will pass. I think it would be great to drive to a show so if they do Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando or Miami I certainly can drive to those venues for the experience. Nothing beats a live performance in a theater full of fans!
