"Obviously, our live shows have become a focus for us at CT over the last year, and I’d like to thank the over 12,000 people who have come out to see us so far. Because of this that we’ve decided not to record our last three live features (East Mmeets Watts, Danger on Tiki Island, and Alien Factor) in the studio, as I previously announced. Instead, we will continue to present these features in future live dates. I do hope you can make it out if Cinematic Titanic comes to your area: watch us follow our bliss and the riffs that go with it!"
This is a huge bummer. I doubt they'll ever make it out to Oklahoma, so I'll probably never get to enjoy any new CT material.
It's like having MST canceled all over again, sort of. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but still a huge let down.

But you will be able to buy the live DVD's so there's still something and I think their live shows would probably be a better watch anyway. The only thing that worries me is the crowd drowning out the dialogue and jokes on the live recording.

Yeah, live DVD's would be alright--I got the impression though that this was more of a "we're not going to release DVDs at all, at least until we have all new material to lure people out with."

^ I agree, that sounds like no DVD's, studio or otherwise... guess I'll have to visit the CT forum and see if this is clairfied. This would be a serious bummer, I really enjoyed their studio releases.

Yeah, he did make it sound like no DVD's. I just wonder if it's some kind of release hiatus that has to do with the financial deal of their new management.
That said, if they are going to do live, I'm sure they'd be open to someone "bootlegging" the live shows with great quality stuff, especially if said bootlegger perhaps offered a cut back to CT for a sound feed, say....?
Just a mild suggestion. heh...

Checked out CT, one person Twittered Josh: It doesn't look like we'll be seeing ANY DVD releases any time soon, but it sounds like Josh implied that DVDs haven't been completely abaondoned.
We shouldn't be holding our breath, waiting. We might, or might not see DVDs. They might or might not be "live" versions. It's all very cloudy.

There are still going to be at least three more DVDs in the distant future, we just don’t know when. I don’t think this blog either confirmed or denied a possible end of studio DVDs. Some fans believe that the Titans are working out a longer buffer between studio DVD releases so they can tour more, then record studio releases after working the material out over several performances. They might have plans to work out a way to record live shows at the venues. Maybe record them during the last two live performances when the material is solid. I don’t think they want to ignore visitors to the website entirely, especially those who are hoping to buy something from the store during the Christmas season. It's also possible that they are having issues getting the rights to more movies, so they're sticking with these titles as "live exclusives" longer than they originally planned. It's not like Cinematic Titanic has the same options that Rifftrax does after all. Maybe their new deal with The Agency for the Performing Arts will help them in this respect.

Perhaps there is something behind the scenes we are not being told. Possibly having to do with acquiring rights to films to release on DVD. It might be becoming cost prohibitive.
Whatever the reason, I'm sad about this. I wish they would record the three current shows in the studio for posterity. (It seems like we, the fan base, are being somewhat abandoned.) And $15 DVD vs. $50 live ticket is another factor. Again, it is probably more profitable to do the live shows than to pay for the rights of the film to be re-released on DVD.
I don't know what I will end up doing. I have tickets for all three nights of the upcoming Chicago gig, and I will be there. It may also, unfortunately, be the last time I'll be able to see them.
We'll see.

Unless they have a novel approach to releasing a live show on DVD, there is no way that video recording a projected image will ever look good enough to enjoy watching for 90 minutes. Seriously. Tell me I am wrong.

I imagine that if they did a live DVD that it would just be the audio from the live show simply mixed with the movie. Kind of rifftrax\film crew style.
