I despise Queen. Bycicle is the worst song ever. Testify brother! I don't secretly hate any classic song but I openly despise many of them.

I don't secretly hate any classic song but I openly despise many of them. I'm with you. Just about different songs. Here's one I thought of for this thread that I don't think I've ever complained about around here: Blondie. I can't think of a single Blondie song that doesn't make me want to stab my eardrums with a golf tee. Especially "Rapture". But especially "One Way or Another". Except that "The Tide is High" is the worst. Unless you count "Heart of Glass", which might be my most-hated song ever. Also, Fleetwood Mac. Blech. Stevie Nicks sounds like a goat. And her solo stuff is even worse. Like "Edge of Seventeen". I'd honestly rather listen to Bob Dylan wheeze his way through another harmonica solo than hear about the one-winged dove ever again. If I may quote Mr. Tony Harrison, "What is your beef with the Mac?" Did they run over your dog or something? I mean, all I have is Fleetwood Mac and Rumours; did they really do some bad stuff after that?
I know little of Blondie's work, but I will agree that "One Way or Another" is a complete turnoff. Also, my mother has played Guess Who's These Eyes so many damn times that I can't stand it anymore. A Guess Who song is fine every once in a while, but playing These Eyes over and over again is really irritating.

If I may quote Mr. Tony Harrison, "What is your beef with the Mac?" Did they run over your dog or something? I mean, all I have is Fleetwood Mac and Rumours; did they really do some bad stuff after that? I like Lindsey Buckingham alright. But their overall output just sounds vanilla and white bread to me. There's no real groove to their stuff, nor do they ever really open up and rock. It just comes across as weak and sterile. Not at all worthy of the legendary status they get. I mean, can someone please tell me why Rumours is such a tremendous album? To me, it sounds like watching paint dry with harmonies. Dullsville, baby. Also, every time someone's tried to get me into Fleetwood Mac, they've always appealed to the soap opera personal lives of the band members. As if their affairs and drama make up for the fact that Mick has no feel in his drumming or that Stevie Nicks sounds like a goat. Pass. I feel similarly about the Eagles. I like Don Henley alright, but the group? Yawn. All of the in-fighting and album sales don't change the fact that most of their songs have 3 guys all strumming a G-chord at the same time. Lebowski was right. Give me CCR every time.

The only thing I can stand by the Eagles is "Hotel California," and that, only because I think the chord progression is great. Oh, right, they stole it from Jethro Tull.

Damn. Blondie and Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks are two of my favorites of all time. It's so funny how people differ: I cannot wrap my mind around anyone not thinking Blondie is awesome. Fleetwood Mac, I can kind of get-- kind of-- but Blondie?
James Taylor kind of sends me into a silent rage. I only found out recently that he was married to Carly Simon in the 70s; I wonder if they bored each other to sleep with their music. Ugh. James Taylor. EVERY TIME I SEE YOUR SMILING FACE I SMACK IT.
I like Queen, but nthing Bicycle. They were probably drunk one night and were like, "You know what we should write a song about? BICYCLES! And make it really irritating! People will love it!"

I agree with whoever said Don't Stop Believing. I'm so freakin sick of that song and everyone singing it.
I love Led Zeppelin, but I'm sick of hearing Rock & Roll on the radio ad nauseum.

Anything by Phil Collins, including his Genesis days.
I have a sincere, deep dislike for that man. I think it stems from the only classic rock station in my hometown playing him about 3 times an hour, every hour (i'm not kidding). That and Keith Moon wasn't even cold yet before he was offering his "services" to the Who. Have some respect douchebag.

^^ Can't stand him either, including Genesis. I hate every single song I've ever heard by him with a passion... with the exception of In The Air Tonight, which I like in spite of myself. He should get divorced more often; maybe then he'd write good music.
And did he really want to join The Who as soon as Kieth Moon died? Can you imagine the terrible music that would have come out of that union?
(I love this thread)

In fairness to Collins he is a good drummer and as long as he stays a drummer he's just fine, such as when he drummed for Eno.

De gustibus non est disputandum. There sure isn't. As for my gusto, I enjoy Phil Collins in all of his manifestations (except his Disney tripe, which is awful at best). I saw Genesis in 2007, and Phil was amazing. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Even as an old man, he hit all the notes, totally worked the crowd, and put on a brilliant display on the drums (esp. during his drum duet with Chester Thompson). An all-around great showman and musician. I remember seeing a PBS special one time with him playing drums in an all-star band with Clapton, Sting, and Mark Knopfler. After watching that, I defy anyone to criticize his ability on the skins.

I tend to really dislike Yes. Some guy used to put five dollars worth of Yes songs on the jukebox where I used to play darts. If you wanted to hear anything other than Yes, you had to show up two hours before game time and pump the machine full of quarters before he did. That's not the band's fault, but still, their fan screwed it up for me big time.
I'm also pretty cool on Led Zeppelin. I respect what they did for music in general, but do I enjoy listening to them? Not in the slightest.
