I got this idea from the "Classic Songs You Secretly Can't Stand" thread. Everyone started divulging their least favorite Beatles songs and voila! Almost everyone likes The Beatles, but almost everyone has to have a Beatles song they hate, right? (Mine's Bungalo Bill. And Birthday.)
So. Talking Heads are my favorite band of all time, and when I discovered them I couldn't believe that every single song by them was absolute genius. Every single song... except Blind. Not only do I dislike that song, I hate it. Youtube it; it's really damn grating. And yet I absolutely love all of their other music.
I don't like All the Young Dudes by David Bowie. I am a complete David Bowie freak and again, I love all his other stuff, but not this one. Don't know why.
And I know Hall & Oates is a slippery slope because they have some mad cool stuff and some mind-bogglingly goofy sftuff, but I think Method of Modern Love is my least favorite. It's even worse than Private Eyes, which is at least catchy.
So don't be ashamed, and share! Remember, it won't make you a bad fan, just a bad person.

I've never cared for Blind either.

The Beatles: -Revolution 9...does that count as a song? -Thank You Girl
John Lennon: -Cold Turkey (too weird...and I usually like weird stuff)
Paul McCartney -Live and Let Die (too corny-sounding) -My Love (too sappy)
Cheap Trick: -Who D'King -High Priest of Rhythmic Noise -Up the Creek (even though the video's funny...Rick Nielsen driving a bathtub, come on!)
Of Montreal: -Rose Robert -Plastis Wafers (does it count if I only like the first part of the song, but not the second?)

Revolution 9...does that count as a song? Not in the least.

Revolution 9...does that count as a song? Not in the least. Yes it does. It's one of the things you can really give to The Beatles. As much as they were a pop band they also had their collective ear to the ground when it came to experimental music. Revolution 9 isn't by any stretch of the imagination good but fair play to them for having a crack at Musique Concrete style tape manipulation. It's a bit basic the way Radiohead's electronic stuff is now but I say well done to them for presenting this sort of thing to the masses, even if it did freak them out!

There's a fine line between innovation and outright cacophony, and Revolution 9 crosses that line. They're not the only artists I like that have done something like that before (*cough* Tom Waits *cough*), but it doesn't retract from the fact that it's pretty much there for its shock value. It's meant to push the boundaries of what we allow ourselves to call music, but every now and then those boundaries are there for a reason. I understand totally where you're coming from, trumpy, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I still can't bring myself to call it music. It is, at best, merely a curiosity.

It's a fair point. I'd never personally put it on to listen to! Ha!
