I caught it as well. I had high hopes for Mosley, but the fact remains he's pushing 40 and just not as fast as he used to be. Mayweather looked tough, as usual, and I was really hoping Mosley staggering him the second was a sign of things to come. Too bad it didn't happen.
I agree, MJ, if he doesn't fight Manny next I'm done with him. I'm surprised I bit the bullet and watched this fight. My first instinct was to boycott the thing because of Mayweahter's whole drug test thing, but I'm a sucker for a potentially good fight, and this had a chance.
Yeah, that Alvarez looked pretty good after getting rocked in the first round. I was surpised how hard it appeared he hit once he got going. Could be worth watching.
I didn't see it, but I hear HBO PPV was showing some free undercard fights before the PPV card started. I like that idea. They should do it more often.

Interesting piece on how Mayweather stacks up against the greats... Mayweather vs the greatsI disagree with Hearns, I think the Hitman would have taken Floyd's head off. The author seems to forget that he was able to handle Leonard's speed and intellegence. He had Leonard beat at 12 rounds in the first fight (then Sugar Ray broke him in round 13) and even Leonard admits Hearns won that 2nd bout. With that height, that speed and those long arms. That agression... Leonard couldn't run from him (and eventually stop trying and got agressive himself) and neither could Floyd. I'd also argue that as hard a hitter as Mosley is, Hitman hit harder. Just my humble opinion. But it takes me back, I wish Leonard and Hearns would have fought a few more times in their prime. Those were some golden days, Marvelous Marvin, Hands of Stone Duran... lot of great fights, lot of great memories.

Just my humble opinion. And one I agree with. Hearns was a kind of fighter you don't see a lot of right now. Like you said - tall, wingspan, agressvie style and punching power. Mosley can hit, but they called Hearns "Hitman" for a reason. Ask Roberto Duran. As for the article speculation on Leonard vs. Mayweather, I think it's right that it would be a great fight, but on the condition the fight is at least 15 rounds long. It could very easily be the greatest of all chess matches. It was a great time for boxing, to be sure. Not that long ago I found a VHS copy of Leonard vs. Hagler at a video store closing. Cost a dollar. Watched it and shared it with my dad, who remembered watching it the first time around (boxing was not on my radar at all in 1987) and noted how he remarked his opinion of who won the fight changed after the second viewing - from Hagler to Leonard. It was a rich time - wish there were more fights of that caliber going on today.
