Don't know if this one's been done, I haven't looked at past pages but - Any "artist" out there whose voice just makes you want to smash your head through a wall?
Michael Bolton, come on down!
There's someone, I don't know if it's just the guy referring to himself or if it's a group - "Fray"? Edit: it's a group. I've heard a few songs featuring that voice, and - blech!!! Shat ap!
Any guy group with grown men singing like kids sort of sing-shouting (?) if you know what I mean, kind of like if they were going "nah nah nah nah NAH nah!" in a playground. Kind of like Blink (what the hell are they - 182?). There's a couple of groups out there like that that are even worse than they are, I can't think of the names right now.
Britney Spears. If she would just SING already, instead of that little moaning whine that she does.
Christina Aguilera.
I hate when singers try to get their entire range into one syllable. Just SING THE SONG!!! Stop moaning and yelling!
I'm sure I'll think of more as I hear them on the radio or something.
Anyone else wanna hurl when they hear a particular "singer"?

Boy what's with all these negative threads on the music forum of late? Music is a joy.... except when that guy from Nickleback is singing. It's like a plasticized version of a great rock singers growl. I'd rather listen to a band saw set to music. (there, that's my contribution - but next time I want a "the good and the beautiful" music thread!) ;D

Giddy Lee, Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury and any number of other high pitched yelpers.
Of course there's a big difference between not liking a singer and say they are a bad singer. I don't want to listen to those guys but they can sing. Especially Mercury, he had an amazing set of pipes, but he's nails on a chalkboard to me.
Hmmmm, how long before someone rags on Bob Dylan?

"Giddy" Lee. L-O-L. How about all the singers that try to sound exactly like Sound Garden? Can't think of any by name, but I hear them all the time.

The dude from Maroon 5. Geddy Lee. Micheal Bolton. Phil Collins (with the exception of In the Air Tonight. Only song by him I can take.)

Ooooo, I thought of another one. I can't stand Dave Mathews voice. He's not in the yelper category like the others I named but I just can't stand him. Also John Mayer. He's a genuinely good guitar player but I can't take his breathy, whispery singing. And Jack White, I just don't see the appeal.

And MJ, I also have to agree with your "what's with the negative threads?" thought. Then again, as much as people love to love music, I believe they also love to hate music. ;D I'm certainly no exception, sadly. Others I'll add to the list: Shakira (doing a Latino Grover is not a singing voice to me, I'm sorry.) Rob Thomas/Scott Stapp/guy-from-Nickleback (I'm certainly unpopular in my area/age group for this opinion, but I dislike what I dislike, and these guys and their current emulators epitomize what's wrong with rock music and vocals in my eyes) Alanis Morrisette (and to a lesser extent, Dido - but I love Imogen Heap, so go figure.) Perhaps someone should start a thread where people list their FAVORITE singers to counterbalance? ;D

Movies are a joy, too - but some people MAKE FUN OF THEM. Nothing wrong with pointing out that some "music" just ISN'T. BTW: I too can't stand John Mayer.

Also John Mayer. He's a genuinely good guitar player but I can't take his breathy, whispery singing. well said. i never heard him play until i saw him on the chappell show a few years back. i thought - wow, this guy's pretty damn good. so the first time i heard him actually sing, i was like - what the hell? a friend gave me a copy of a cd of his, but i never bothered to even take it out of the case, and it has since been tossed.

Cher. For the love of all that is holy, CHER!
I also can't stand that American Idol winner Fantasia. Such a worthless "talent."
And while I'll always have people outraged at me for saying this, if I never hear Aerosmith again, it'll be too soon.

The complaints about the lead singer of Creed reminds me of this MAD Tv music video parody. Yes, I know it's MAD Tv, but hear me out:
That reminds me...I don't like Eddie Vedder's singing either.
Who else: -Anyone who oversings. I'm looking at you, Christina Aguilera. A couple of years ago at the Tonys, Hugh Jackman and Aretha Franklin sang Somewhere from West Side Story together, and the last like 5 minutes was just them singing "Somewhere" over and over, trying to see who could cram the most notes in. -Britney Spears, though I think her "toddler after inhaling helium" voice is the work of Auto-Tune. -Jessica Simpson, who considers whispering in a baby voice to be singing. -Robert Plant got a little too screechy sometimes. There, I said it!

I'm bumping this thread in order to complain about the tinnitus-tweaking "singing" of Taylor Swift on the Grammies last night. I heard all sorts of great things about her, then I heard her sing, live, last night.
