www.nbc.com/community/?__source=ggl%7ccommunity%7cBrand%7cG_Community&sky=ggl%7ccommunity%7cBrand%7cG_Communityhas anyone watched it? the first show came on last thursday. considering it is in the slot after the office, i hope it has a genuine shot. i've been a fan of joel mchale from the soup for years and i always thought he could do more - of course he was a guest riffer for rifftrax's red dawn and i've heard he did a good job. normally, i am not a big fan of chevy chase. but he played his part very low key and was much funnier in a non-assuming kind of way. the supporting characters held up their end and joel was great. i am just so thankful it's a new promising show that ISN'T a so called "reality" comedy!

Mrs. Atari and I watched it on hulu the other night. I laughed until I cried. The basic premise is pretty lame, but the writing and timing of the humor was stellar. Especially Abed. He was great.

It wasn't bad, but I'm waiting for it to be much better as the season progresses. They had to establish so much stuff in that first episode, I'm guessing it will improve when they can just tell the stories.
I think my favorite character is the dean, played by John Oliver of the Daily Show. McHale and Chase seem like they could anchor the cast. This should be interesting. I just wish they had room for this and My Name Is Earl.

Watched it and thought it was good. I became a Joel McHale fan after hearing him riff with Mike. I like his style and I like his work on "The Soup."
But I'm still mad at NBC for its mistreatment of "Earl."

It was funny but the pilot was a bit too setup-y for me. I'm looking forward to the stories proper starting this week. It has a fantastic cast. I didn't expect John Oliver to be a regular. The promos made me think he was just a guest shot.

And how predictably he "oh no'd" when Jeff/Joel (yeah, he's basically playing himself/his "The Soup" persona) broke Steve the Pencil. Abed's adorable, as is most of the cast, 99% of which I ran into during my three years at Modesto Junior College... Dad and I laughed a lot at the show, so I'll be giving it another look. I just hope they didn't tweak it too much past the pilot.

so far, i still like it. after starting this thread and talking about it with coworkers after the pilot, i totally forgot to watch the second show. durhey. but i watched it online and managed to remember to tape last week's episode, which i just finished. i still like it. i like the character development - surprisingly, chevy chase's most of all, and like i said, i've never been a big fan of his. there have been some really funny lines in it and i know it is still new. but i think i will stick with it.

Yeah, I liked the second episode almost more than the first. The presentation was epic, complete with Aimee Mann and robots. And I loved the post-credits scene with Troy and Abed rapping nonsense in Spanish.
I still haven't seen last week's, but I hope it's as good as the others have been.

I fell way behind on this and then finally watched about four episodes in a row last night. Wow, is this show improving. Big time. I got as far as the one where Britta tries to quit smoking and Abed seems to be able to predict the future. A lot of it was flat-out hilarious with sprinklings of drama rolled in there. There are shades of Earl in there, in that regard.
Joel is growing on me. I never liked The Soup, but I'm starting to get into his style. The episode where he moves into the dorms is one of my favorites - he really captured the spirit of it all.
Anyway, glad I'm somewhat back on track. I'm still behind, but I'm enjoying catching up. Now that the characters are established, they can get down to business.

yeah, i think the show is getting better all the time. i like that they aren't centering the story around jeff and britta (her name cracks me up every time). i love senor chang's character, by the way. and i look forward to that last epilogue part that always features abed and troy. they are often hilarious together. i think my favorite episode so far was the halloween one. abed as batman was just too funny - he nailed that voice!

Yes, the Halloween episode was flat-out fantastic. The Batman impression was spot-on (almost too good, in my opinion). I have to agree, I think Senor Chang is my favorite character. The one where he and Jeff bond over Chang's wife leaving and Pierce helping what's-her-name with her speech was a great episode. Finally caught up last night. This is fast becoming a favorite show of mine. The STD fair was great, and the Christmas episode was unconventional, a little edgy and ends in a knock down, drag out brawl. You don't see that on your Christmas episodes very often. I assume it will go on brief hiatus over the holidays, but I hope it's not gone long.

I started watching the show again, after continuously forgetting what's on on Thursdays (I ought to do something about that). I loved the Nondenominational Mr. Winter joke. Also, I laughed my arse off at everybody's reactions when Jeff says he's an agnostic (I am also an agnostic).

With Anthony Michael Hall guest starring this week, it went to a whole new level. I kept waiting for Chevy to call him "Russ".
I also like how they simultaneously mocked the politically correct, secular, non-denominational holiday garbage ("Merry Happy!") and also told a good story of a religiously diverse group.

THAT was anthony michael hall?? oh, man! what happened to that pencil-necked geek i fell in love with back in sixteen candles? good holiday episode - i think it just gets better with every episode. the characters are all in tune with each other, the chemistry's good and the writing is still sharp.
and jeff and abed decorating troy while they sang was just awesomeness.
