I've done some buying and selling on Ebay over the years and am probably getting ready to do some selling in a month or so since I have finally resolved to get rid of about half the junk I've accumulated so I can have room for new junk!
Mostly my experience on EBay has been positive. There have been a few bad eggs but not enough to dissuade me from selling. I always sell my stuff starting at .99 and no reserve. That way nobody can come back at me telling me I tried to sell the item for more than it was worth. "Dude, you said to yourself that that limited edition Scooby Doo toilet roll holder was worth $39.95 plus shipping. I didn't!" I will refund people their money if they misread my ad or didn't like it for some reason. It's only happened about 4 or 5 times in the 10 years I've used EBay and never for very much. I guess I've been lucky. I like Craig's List as well for big stuff, but be ready to receive lots of spam if you use it. We got a nice breakfront pine cabinet for $100.

I just ran across this in the paper this evening:
A Northbrook man pleaded guilty today to swindling at least 250 people out of more than $1 million through the sale of counterfeit prints advertised as the work of top modern artists.
Michael Zabrin could be facing as much as 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to a single count of mail fraud, prosecutors said.
U.S. District Judge Robert M. Dow Jr. set March 23 for sentencing.
Zabrin admitted in his signed plea agreement he sent away to Spain and Italy for counterfeit fine art prints. He said he advertised them on eBay as being the work of Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Salvador Dali and Marc Chagall among others.
Personally, I've never sold anything on Ebay, but I have purchased quite a bit.
My first purchase was the VHS of The Amazing Colossal Man!
