Reb Brown (from MST3K's Space Mutiny) in one of the best bad movies of the 1980s! It's Yor's world! He's the man! Samples! Yor fights the deadly Tristegatops. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_L_fkKRUZoYor meets villainous nerd, the Overlord. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIjpg9frxXYAvailable here! www.rifftrax.com/iriffs/yor-hunter-from-future-commentary-garrett-gilchristThe film itself is available on a pirate torrent site somewhere, and even at Youtube! (I riffed a widescreen version taped off of Turner Classic Movies.) My commentary on Yor, the Hunter From the Future, a very funny 1983 film starring Reb Brown (of MST3K's Space Mutiny and the 70s Captain America) as a very blonde, very stupid caveman who fights both dinosaurs with an axe and robots with a laser gun. He wanders around aimlessly and every single civilization he comes across, he destroys completely, with fire and with flooding. There's no thought process to this, or to this film. Yor destroys simply because he is. He is accompanied by the jealous, spiteful Kallah, who has some crazy 80s hair going on, and attempts to kill anyone else who hits on Yor. There's also Pag, an old man who loves his hemp. There are evil blue cavemen, and evil grey cavemen. It's nice that evil is color coded. It all ends up in a sci-fi city for some reason, with the ridiculous villain The Overlord, who probably likes to play Dungeons and Dragons, and some pretty pathetic future people. By the end of it, our hero has killed everyone who isn't him and doomed the entire future of humanity, as his epic 80s Queen-like theme song plays! Yor! Hunter from the Future! Commentary by Garrett Gilchrist. The film has been released on DVD in Germany. You can still find it on VHS, and several places online - such as a pirate torrent site, and Youtube. My cover for the film Just click here for the big version: orangecow.org/commentaries/yorhunter/yoramaray.jpgPoster! orangecow.org/commentaries/yorhunter/yor_hunter_from_future_poster_01_0.jpgThat's definitely not Kallah in the poster, but it is Reb Brown (with his more usual short hair). More images including pics from the Yor comic book: orangecow.org/commentaries/yorhunter/If you've seen SpoonyOne's review of the film, you'll hear one or two jokes "borrowed" from that review ..... I had watched SpoonyOne's review before watching the film, and it just didn't feel right to not use a couple of his lines in there, as the sincerest form of flattery I suppose ... David from Riff Raff Theater also contributed some Space Mutiny style nicknames for Yor. Click on the image galleries here for some insane stuff used to promote Yor as a film .... including a lot of posters with puns on "Yor's" name. www.golobthehumanoid.com/yor1.html Here's the original trailer to this cinematic masterpiece. There's some sort of intro, but then it goes right into it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wSLH2lT6qE&feature=player_embeddedThis blog's "Yor week" dug up more comic book images and images from the deleted "swamp monster" scene, only seen in the 3.5 hour TV version of the film .... david-z.blogspot.com/search/label/Yor%20Weekphotos1.blogger.com/blogger/2840/1385/1600/swamp1.jpgphotos1.blogger.com/blogger/2840/1385/1600/eyemcoming.jpgphotos1.blogger.com/blogger/2840/1385/1600/swamp4.jpgMy previous commentary, Starcrash, is available at Youtube, and here at Rifftrax.com, and may be available elsewhere. One out of five cavemen agree: Yor is the MAN!
Here are some reviews:
"This was hilarious! Great job! I really enjoyed this one. I can't believe this movie got missed when I was growing up.. Well, actually I could ..." - Richard Van Remmen II
"Funny! Some really clever lines. It's extremely joke-dense, maybe too much so, but that is much, much better than being too sparse." - David Pinkston, Riff Raff Theater

They did an actual cheesy and bad movie? How bizarre. I was hoping they would do Citizen Kane or Vertigo next.

Diet Kolos, I know you're kidding, but this is an iRiff, Mike and the boys had nothing to do with it. You should really just relax ... (And I think Rifftrax does plenty of properly bad movies.)
Wow. I envy you sir. The awesomeness of this film cannot be contained on the small screen.
Actually I heard it was screened at the New Beverly in Hollywood not too long ago.

Oh, of course. My bad. What was I thinking, they wouldn't do an obviously bad movie no one's heard of. Nope. More money in riffing stuff like The Godfather or A Clockwork Orange.

Kolos, this is not the place for Rifftrax hate. Take it to another thread.
But they've done Planet of the Dinosaurs, The Star Wars Holiday Special, Cloverfield, The Happening, Batman and Robin, Beowulf, Fantastic Four, and so on and so on ..... In all cases, movies where it's incredible to think that the filmmakers actually thought what they were doing was releasable. Due to their format, they get much better sales from better known movies. That doesn't mean they don't do bad films.
Personally, I riffed Starcrash and Yor, Hunter from the Future since they're just the sort of hilariously terrible films the show would have done back in the day. If you like that kind of thing, why not have a watch?

A little Yor trivia for you- It was originally a mini-series on Italian tv and the movie is edited together from the episodes.

Actually the way Rifftrax works there IS more money in doing The Godfather or A Clockwork Orange. You have to own/rent the DVD to use Rifftrax so doing obscure/difficult to obtain movies would defeat the purpose.

I don't really find it unfortunate. They did 10 years of old and obscure. I think newer stuff is actually kind of refreshing. Plus there's been a lot of movies in the last 10 years that I really would love to see ripped apart by them.

In anycase, I'm sorry I've gotten this thread so far off-topic. I think I'll check out your IRiff.

I'm actually interested to see Casablanca to see if they make any reference to Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.
