Well, after giving a lot of admiration to the efforts of Ryan K. Johnson, Mystery Spatula Theatre 11, and the brains behind Mystery Fandom Theater, I've decided to throw my hat into the ring of fanvids. Though rather than use established characters, I've crafted by own movie victim, Mads, and bots. PLOT: Tim Johnson is your average guy with a not-so-average girlfriend, the evil genius Amy Mendez. One day, when he went over to break it off, she finds a girl's shirt (his sister's) in his backpack and, in a fit of rage Dr. F would be proud of, she knocked him out and shot him into her satellite in outer space. There he berfriends the denizens of the newly named Riff-1: Agua, a robot built by Amy in 4th grade; Van, an eyeball in a ball on a pedestal, who pilots the ship; and Fembot, Amy's latest uncompleted creation who is enamored with our planet. Amy attempts to force terrible movies upon Tim, but, if she had paid any attention to him and his interests during their time together, she's know this is pretty much his dream. Watch as Tim, Agua, Fembot, and Van sit through terrors like "Superman IV", "Batman & Robin", and "Dr. Who and the Daleks", providing funny and mostly improved riffing throughout. STARRING (Currently): ZAC BURNHAM as Tim Johnson SHAY LEWIS as Amy Mendez TOBY MOBIAS as Agua ACS BLAID as Van and ELIZIBETH BALL as Fembot Mk. I I recently began constructing the set and our version of the hallway sequence. The satellite model is near completion, and will probably be finished over the weekend. PICS SOON!

I've been getting a few questions about the name from friends and such, so I figured I should explain it really quickly:
When I originally got the idea to do a fanvid, I realised it would seem too unoriginal, especially with the story we had at the time, which was almost word for word Joel's backstory. So, we aptly named it 'Unoriginal Concept Theatre'. As the premise evolved, however, we liked to believe it became almost stand-alone to MST3K; fans of the show would enjoy it more, but it wasn't necessary. But the problem was we had become too attatched to the name to change it, so we kept it as UCT1K.
So...yeah.

Well, first lemme just say "Merry Christmas, Everyone!"
I just got an "old" new camera and a very, very hastily put together editing system (i.e., a VCR plugged into a desktop computer with a copy of Movie Maker and Digital Blue software), and we plan on having this done by next summer at the latest.
The reason I'm posting, however, is that we are in desperate need of writers. The fact is, I'm the only person in the group who is an actual fan of the show, and only one other person has seen the series (well, 424 - "Manos" and feature film, anyway). So, at the moment, I'm the only writer. Our first film is a little animated abomination called "Space Transformers", available on the Internet Archive, followed by "Project: Kill" starring Leslie Nielson, then "Solar Adventure", another Joseph Lee cartoon.

17 January, 2010 Well, I found it amusing to discover that there was a BBI employee named Tim Johnson. Strangely, the name for MY Tim Johnson was from my subconscious remembrance of a Spanish II assignment about an executive who goes to Mexico : P Anyway, I managed to purchase a lab coat on eBay for $15.24, with free shipping. It'll fit me, and it'll look comically over-sized on teeny Shay as Amy (she's supposed to have stolen the lab coat from her dad). I made this patch a few minutes ago on Says-It's seal maker, and I rather like it. Still snooping around for another Agua head, though. Why would a mini-watercooler, in abundance only a year or so ago, be in such short supply? >: ( UPDATE: I FINALLY found a new watercooler!Shipping's more than I would like, but I sent them a message regarding it.

Well, the labcoat and the new Agua came this week. I ended up paying WAY more than I wanted for it, but that's the price of progress, I suppose. Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures with the lab coat on. Can anyone guess what I'm singing here?

Well, it's been a while, but I'm back. I wrote a prologue to the film series, located on this here forum, and it also has some concept art (like what our greenscreen set will look like), and a riffing of some bad yaoi featuring Tim, Agua, and Fembot. Also, if someone DOES read this thread, please post. It's a bit strange posting all this and no one reads it XP

OH FRANK. The prologue has only been on the Interwebs for 2 days, and someone has already written the first UCT1K fanfic! : D *sniff* I'm so happy...

Well, the website's finally more-or-less in a state of perpetual near-completion. The Agua puppet is now functional, thanks to the wonders of flat black camoflauge spray paint, wooden dowels, and hot glue. Van is coming along nicely; I really just need to paint his base and replace the bits of string I'm using with some fishing line so it's harder to see. I've also been getting some tips and general help from Mike Hagen, a really cool guy and one of those responsible for " Mystery Fandom Theater." If you haven't seen the work of Adam, Brian, and Mike, I recommend it. My favourite experiment so far is "F02 - Invasion of the Animal People". The host segments are hilarious, the set is AMAZING, and it really has the feel of a MST3K episode. Mike (played by Mike, natch) doesn't always act like the Nelson we know and love, but it's still an enjoyable version of the character. It's really Hagen's own version of Nelson. Again, if you are one of the few, the proud, and the very quiet who actually read these little progress reports of mine, PLEASE don't hesitate to post, if only to make me feel like I'm not just talking to a digital brick wall...or Cambot.
