I know it's been said over and over again, but the Bioshock series has an amazing score that goes along with it. Just the music you first hear when you spy Rapture for the very first time is absolutely breathtaking. Really neat licensed music going along with it makes a journey to Rapture a truly great one indeed.

SNK has some really great music. The music did take a plunge around 2001, but it's gotten good again(KOF 13 has a great soundtrack)

Since Megaman kicked off this thread way back when, how bout some more. This is something called Project X. Someone basically made an album based on all the music from Megaman 2. It's in the same style as the original music from the game, just more complex, and pretty good. Project X - Megaman 2However, Zelda trumps all in my video game world. The original scores by Koji Kondo are all fantastic, particularly the fully orchestrated Ocarina of Time. This violinist has one of my favorite fan homages.

^ That Project X stuff is amazing. Also any video game music thread has to mention this guy.

Wow, nice. I'd never really noticed how unique the Mario 3 music is. I guess that's what I get for almost always listening to albums when I play the NES Mario games.

Speaking of video game remixes, I have to promote this guy because he does some great work. He takes various music and remixes them so they sound like they came from a mid to late 90s Capcom game.

The Streets Of Rage series has some properly pumping early Techno sounds. Perfect for punching someone in the face before eating an apple you found under a phone box you smashed with your bare hands to.

Chrono Trigger's one of those games I never got around to playing back in the day and so I've still never played it. People keep telling me I must, even just to hear the music. After that I'd have to say they are correct. Beautiful.

Two of my FAAAAAAAVORITE scores to games in recent times are the score to Fez by Disasterpiece and the score to VVVVVV by Souleye. Seriously. I've listened to both soundtracks an obscene amount of times on my iPod and can't get enough of either of them.

This theme makes playing the game such a delight.
