You know, the Marx Brothers, for years, would "tour" the comedy scenes from their upcoming movie, all over the country, to try out the jokes until they got them as good as they could get them. THEN they went in and filmed the movie. Good point, and that's what I thought the whole dynamic of CT originally was, and why I think it worked so well... because they did start off trying the jokes out live and then recorded the studio versions on several of the early installments. I think that was ideal. I don't hate the live DVD, I just feel like East Meets Watts played like a dress rehearsal. The writing and riffing were amazing... and if the audience wasn't distracting, they didn't necessarily bring anything to the experience, in my opinion.

If I would have put "both" as an option, that really wouldn't inform me of people's PREFERENCE between the two. But if people don't actually have a preference -and I don't (even though I loved the live release)- then we are being forced to vote for something we don't really want to vote for. Without a "both" option" your still not being fully informed. Put a gun to my head and I still don't give a damn either way.

I wouldn't mind either way, but if they do the live route, I hope they flub less than East Meets Watts. I mean, I'm not expecting perfection, but I do wish to know what those jokes were. What if they would've brought tears to my eyes, because they were so funny, only to have them lost forever because someone didn't bother to tape a second show?
The flubs I'm actually ok with if they add to the humor, and the other Titans pounce on it, like they sometimes do, but if it's just like, "Oh crap, missed a line....." I mean, did we really need to see that? It's nitpicky, and didn't take away from my EMW enjoyment at all, I'm just saying my idea of perfection on a Titans show would be. I saw them live without any noticeable mistakes, and it blew me away. I just hope they keep getting better with each release, which they seem to be doing.

I was concerned about live DVDs until I got "East Meets Watts." It was the best release yet, and it had a freshness and spontaneity that was missing from the studio releases. Now, when I listen to the studio DVDs, they sound a bit lifeless. The audience interaction, and the way the Titans feed off it, adds something special to the live DVDs. So I voted Live.

Having seen them live 6 times at the present writing, I say live. Dr. Krasker is right: you get the feel of the Titans feeding off the audience energy, and vice versa.

While I'm a big advocate for the Live DVDs, this aspect is a problem. Just watched ALIEN FACTOR and it's great, but all the Titans flubbed at least one line each, Mary Jo noticeably a few. Back in MST days they'd dub in the correct lines but with this head-on live experience, that doesn't seem to be an option. I guess to hear the jokes that were meant to be you'd have to see them perform it in concert and hope they don't screw 'em up again.

Live releases make more sense since they are attempting to draw people to their live shows. Plus, it's a great memento to remember the live performances by. I think releases like "Oozing Skull," "Legacy Of Blood," and "Blood of the Vampires" would have been vastly improved by being live. You get to see the riffers expressions this way, which are priceless. The live format is new, it's different, and frankly, it rules. "Alien Factor" would have been much duller in the studio, IMHO. I love the live version.

I purchased and downloaded "Alien Factor" today and watched it twice. I can definitely see the appeal of the "live" performance. I'd like to see a mixture of studio and live.
