Happy Birthday to me.
Purchased, downloaded and watched this today. It's a good one. Movie itself is a fun, sub-community theater level production, with surprisingly good creature costumes and an eerie synth score. (Josh: I want to punch Robert Moog in the head)
The live format solves the low-energy problem I had with the early discs, but adds a new glitch in that every one of the riffers screws up at least one line, which are now recorded for posterity.
The audience is pretty low in the mix, and not at all distracting. But I like hearing the laughter of fellow Mysties.
Lot's of 70's music references and singing. I was stunned to hear Joel belt out "Karn Evil 9" by ELP. Our crew drops the word "s**t" frequently, so this is a PG rated episode.
Coming so close on the heels of East Meets Watts (2 months ago?), I can forgive a few flubbed lines, if it means more releases per year.

I watched it last night with my wife and it's my new favorite. I laughed my ass off for the most part and I'm totally sold on the live episode format. The energy level is way higher than in the studio ones and the Titian's are able to play off one another. (And sometimes they crack each other up.)
The movie was perfect riffing fodder and sometimes they would stop riffing in order to let one of the actors in the film say some crazy piece of dialogue and they wouldn't even respond to it. Then they'd just look at the audience and smile while everyone cracked up. The movie is so wonderfully bad that by not saying anything sometimes the movie would just do the work for them.
Really, this is the best episode yet and a must buy. 10/10

Love the great reviews so far. Ordered mine last night. EZTakes works just fine for me but I'd rather have the old fashioned DVD w/ packaging.

Good to hear, Monster X. Based on the live show I attended for this movie, I would have rated it a 10, as well, and the best CT I'd seen either live or on DVD. Glad to hear the DVD version of the live show holds up just as well. Mine downloaded while I was at work today....can't wait to watch it!

Watched my DVD of THE ALIEN FACTOR today, incredibly hilarious! Might be my favorite CT episode yet! It's the perfect MST3k-type movie, and the alien monsters were a lot of fun. This one had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments for me.
I wonder if they considered doing Dohler's THE GALAXY INVADER [footage from it was used in the beginning credits of POD PEOPLE], that one would be a great choice too.

I too just watched my DVD, and laughed as hard as I did at the live show. In fact, it was the SAME show I saw, as I was in the audience at the Largo Theater when this was recorded! Pretty neat! (Although I couldn't quite pinpoint my laugh....)

I watched it again for the 3rd time. Gawd it just gets funnier every time I pop it in the player.
Everyone has their own reasons why they prefer one post MST project over the other, but when I say that CT takes me back to those old days, one of the reasons is that when MST was on the air I never wanted an episode to end and would replay it, sometimes even on the same day. CT does that - I’m disappointed when its over and I can’t wait to watch it again.
New riffs pop up that I didn’t notice on the first viewing, like…
“Oh and don’t close the beaches” – Trace
But ultimately it’s simply because I have such a good time. Lord these people are hilarious, they make life happy.

Fave riff: "I was just in the middle of my Chevy Chase lessons."

This release is very funny and on par with the first "live" release. The movie is as advertised (really bad). A perfect film for Cinematic Titanic.
My favorite riffs involve the scene at the police station with the deputy and the woman at the beginning of the film. I won't quote so as to not spoil anything.
Well recommended.

Fave riff: "I was just in the middle of my Chevy Chase lessons." That was a hilarious. I also enjoyed the scene when the guy throws the gas can... and all the riffers do is throw up their hands an walk away as the auidence cracks up. That said it all perfectly.

Received my copy on Friday... watched it on Friday night.
What a hoot! It has been well documented, I'm not a fan of the LIVE format... I loved East Meets Watts because of the fantastic writing and the hilarious blacksploitation/kung fu movie. To me, it was the best CT installment to date. I believe The Alien Factor runs a close second as it delivers big in the laughs department.
The movie is big and dumb just like the monsters... and despite the ridiculous padding and walking scenes, The Titans riff hard, fast and never miss a beat. The movie delivers some big laughs on its own thanks to the acting, which ranged from wooden to hammy. The "Chevy Chase" Mayor guy is a hoot and the "Three Dog Night" guys are all diversely bad! Like a lamb to the slaughter, this movie is a very easy target... and that is just fine by me.
One thing that I really loved about this one, is Joel really channeled Joel Robinson from The Satellite of Love. His subtle comments and lackadaisical delivery from yesteryear were noticeably present... and I mean that in a very nostalgic and good way. Josh continues to show what a rockstar riffer he is and I think I enjoyed Frank's lines in this one more than any of the previous titles. Trace is always solid and had some classic lines. I've loved Mary Jo on everyone of the CT titles, except this one. She faltered several times, and I don't remember any stand out lines, but she's still fantastic!
Overall, just great fun! I wasn't expecting too much from this one, but was pleasantly surprised! Can't wait for Danger on Tiki Island!
