He's running the SF airport from the stars, now. RIP, sir. I wonder if there are pilots complaining about mushy nose wheels up there. R.I.P. Pernell.

SFI is one of my fav season 6 eps, and Pernell is one of the main reasons why.
RIP Pernell, you were one of the good ones.

Huh, how about that, reading some obits--I did not know that his irritation at racism (and sexism, though this article you linked doesn't mention that) at Bonanza was any part of why he hated it there. When I was growing up, Roberts was the poster boy for actors who "got too big for their britches" and lost a healthy career over that...but (and why does this surprise me?), apparently that myth isn't the truth (or any more than a tiny bit of it). All this time I shouldn't have been making fun of his toupees but applauding him. www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/jan/26/pernell-roberts-obituary81 is a good long haul for humans. I hope he mostly enjoyed it.
