I just now learned about it from a friend, and it makes me sad. There was a part of me that had always hoped that Nintendo would abandon their current voice for Mario and give us a game starring the Captain. For he'll always be the true voice of the plumber from Brooklyn to me.

I'll have to wear a black rubber band in my goatee in remembrance of the man.

No way!
Jeez, I feel so old now. I do have to admit that I was a watcher of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, and that the live-action Albano/Wells scenes were the actual highlight of the program. Rest well, Cap.

Sad, indeed. I think I may watch the "Goonies 'R' Good Enough" video in remembrance.
Rest well, sir.

No way! Jeez, I feel so old now. I do have to admit that I was a watcher of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, and that the live-action Albano/Wells scenes were the actual highlight of the program. Rest well, Cap. I pretty much agree*. The Live Action segments were my favorite parts. I need to buy the DVDs and watch 'em again just for those parts. (Especially since I've been trying to remember a particular one of those sketches in which another brother or cousin or something shows up. I vaguely remember him wearing purple. Either way, I think that character popped up in the sketch way before Wario hit the scene.) *Note: by "pretty much agree" I mean to say that I remember the show fondly, which is true. Ordinarily, the Rivalry of Mid-90's Console Gamers would force me to extoll the virtues of SatAM in comparison to the Super Mario Super Show, but in honor of the Captain I'll save that for later. Either way, I watched the Super Mario Super Show as often as I could back in the day.

I'm old enough to remember his connection to "Rock and Wrestling" from the mid 80's. I was in high school then and pretty much all of us would watch wrestling. RIP.

I remember when he did a polygraph on whether or not wrestling was fake. He said it was not. He failed.

Rest In Peace, Captain Lou.
One of the better performers from back in the day when wrestling wasn't total crap.

RIP Captain. Here's hoping he's reunited with Fred Blassie and the Grand Wizard, making life miserable for the faces in that great ring in the sky.

For some reason, I remember arguing with some guy in middle school about Cap'n Lou's name. He kept insisting that it was Captain Lou ALBINO. I said that made no sense since he was obviously NOT an albino. The guy then countered that it was just his name not a description. Then I shot back that it was a made up name BECAUSE HE CALLS HIMSELF CAPTAIN!!!!!!! And then stormed off in a fit of adolescent rage.
Why do I remember this semi-coherent argument in such detail? I have no idea. RIP

I may make a Smackdown! vs. Raw character of Lou Albano, once I get SDvR2010.
