The "SJ Adventures" tie-in wasn't very good imo. RTD's script was weak (no surprise there really) and it failed to capture much of the magic of the best of either series.
I was disappointed as well that Matt Smith admitted in a recent interview he hadn't seen any Jon Pertwee/Katty Manning eps. It really showed. (Compare Smith's performance to David Tennant's in "School Reunion" where you can see Tom Baker coming through in that first meeting with Lis Sladen. A beautifully played scene)
Still, looking forward to the next series, especially the Neil Gaiman ep.

Good News Dr. Who fans who watch the show on BBC America. That network has announced that the annual Christmas Special will be broadcast on Christmas Day From what I understand the annual X-mas special is broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day. So we on this side of the pond will get the episode only a few hours later

For those who watched the Craig Ferguson Doctor Who Special, you'll know that they spent 2 days rehearsing a special cold open, only to be told at the last minute that the show hadn't gotten the rights to use the Doctor Who theme.
The clip has since been "leaked."
