On a few sites, I noted some level of excitement over a trailer for the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I don't share that excitement. I'm not all that fond of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 which I could only be grateful that I'm not epileptic. The trailer doesn't impress me as it shows absolutely no content and it seems to confirm characters that I already had seen in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. However, I thought I'd bring up this thread so users can weigh in on the upcoming fighter game, their favorite fighter games, and maybe even their preferred characters.
I find I am not fond of the direction that Capcom's fighters had taken after Street Fighter II. I find myself far more fond of SNK's variety of fighters, as I find their mechanics to be more conservative and the art style is just more elegant. I much enjoyed Capcom vs. SNK 2 and The King of Fighters XI. Reminded by the upcoming Capcom game, I was curious why I hadn't heard anything else about The King of Fighters XII. I got my answer: there was no release for the Nintendo. I have to be honest: I like my Nintendo fine, but the lack of a descent controller that doesn't run on batteries does annoy me. I have to say that Sony's DualShock controllers still rank as my personal favorite.
Here's a couple of my favored characters:
Blanka
One factor that seems to help define favorite characters of mine is lack of projectile attacks and a non-reliance on special attacks. Blanka is a comfortable character to play as and I enjoy the reach that his regular attacks achieve.
Chun-Li
I really wish they would take away her projectile attacks. The funnest thing about her mechanics is her ability to do a kick jump off the side of the screen. Also, Chun-Li is just classic eye candy.
Eagle
He's not extremely powerful, so I enjoy the challenge playing as him presents. His control is average, but fun to play. I also like his design and his fighting stick gimmick.
E. Honda
I very much enjoy his control and I like punishing attackers with his hand-slap attack.
Mature and Vice
I'm leaning somewhat towards Mature between these two. They have nice conservative control and I like attacking victims with some of their flurry attacks.
Oswald
Here's a new character that was introduced in The King of Fighters XI. He reminds a lot of Gambit and I enjoy the brutality of his attacks.
Ivy
Okay, there's only one leading reason why I like this character and that I play this game: she's a voluptuous woman dressed like a dominatrix. Otherwise, it is a little fun to try to master her control.
