why doesn't CT do shorts? i just don't get it. there are so many still out there that have not been riffed, and the films CT usually pick are not very long. and as much as i love hearing mike, kevin and bill riff on shorts, i would love to hear the titans do it as well. they have proven to be incredibly popular, for both MST3K and rifftrax. has anyone ever asked them, i wonder? chuck! get on it!

I'd love for the Cinematic Titanic crew to do shorts. I kinda doubt it will happen though. I'm fairly certain the shorts were introduced mainly as way to bump up an episode run time to fill the whole two hours on MSTs television slot. As a non-televised series, Cinematic Titanic doesn't have any obligation to crank up it's runtime.
I imagine that RiffTrax started doing them because they were cheap to produce and gave them a good helping of money. Cinematic Titanic could probably do the same, but due to the friendly competition between the two, they probably want to avoid mimicing what RiffTrax has done so successfully.
Though, it might be fun if they went back to the MST style "showing a short before the movie" on their releases, I definatly won't be complaining.

You're right, Robo. The shorts were nothing but filler.
The Titans are not interested in doing shorts, they want to do films. And, from what Joel has said, no more black and white films. Joel wants to do color films only.

I'm all for this. There are so many PD shorts on the Prelinger Archives site alone that there would never be the worry that CT and RT would overlap in the shorts they chose. There's plenty to go 'round! And the great thing about CT is they DON'T have to worry about keeping to some kind of broadcast runtime. . .they can make it as long/short as they want to.
Actually, short or no short, I'm ready for the next CT release! Bring it on!

Color shorts? :-) I actually didn't know that Joel felt that way. Do you know why? I guess it doesn't really matter to me since I'll continue to buy the CT releases no matter what, but what's wrong with B&W?

Filler or not, they were a great fun, I'd love 'em if they did a short. Maybe as a DVD extra for the live releases. Course, while I have no problem with 5 riffers on a film, I wonder if it would work as well on a 10 minute short? Hey CT, lets do one and find out?

The Titans are not interested in doing shorts, they want to do films. Was this from an interview or something? Do you have a link?

Joel said no more black and white to me in Chicago.
He loves coming out and asking the crowd, "Do you wanna watch a sh*tty movie?"
He also mentioned in an interview somewhere (I have no idea where I read it, a link at the info site no doubt) about getting the rights to later films.
There's a lot of good bad stuff out there. He covered the 50s pretty much on Comedy Central. Excelsior!

I meant the shorts, where did you find out that the titans aren't interested in doing shorts?

I wish they would do some shorts. Release them as VOD the way Rifftrax does. Even if they were few and far between, I think it would help keep up fan interest. I know I'd enjoy them.

They've shown no interest thus far. Riff Trax is doing shorts, the Titans want to do films. They've moved on from the MST3K days. Been there, done that.
Personally, I don't want them to do shorts. I like the full-length features much, much better.

Oh good, I thought you actually read it somewhere or something.
I'm on board with hoping they start adding a short to the beginning of each feature; at least the shorter ones. They're like the perfect appetizer before the main course.
