Does anyone else here enjoy New age/synthpop/spacesynth as much as me?
It's really awesome, especially Jean Michel Jarre, KOTO, Nova, Shamall and Serge Blenner. There are others, I was just naming a few of my favorites.

I enjoy synthesizers in my '80s music. British synth-pop, new wave, prog rock, Harold Faltermeyer. That kind of thing. Slow, wind-chimey, play-one-chord-for-ten-minutes, Windham Hill kind of stuff? Not so much.

my ex was a big fan. I hope you're not my ex. Of your list, Jarre was the only one I heard a lot. Tangerine Dream was big in that household. There was also a lot of Eno, Reich. Glass, that sort of "serious"-synth intersection. The first time I ever saw koyaanisqatsi I could actually hum along with the whole thing. I saw a couple of these guys in concert, even. Divorce sometimes makes a person throw the baby out with the bathwater (or, for people who hate the music, that'd be the dirt out with the bathwater), and the only musicI kept was Eno's ambient stuff.

When it comes to synthesizers, give me stuff by Yes, Genesis, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Pink Floyd, and even some Roxy Music!

Well, since you asked, no I don't. Here here; I can stand synth in small amounts, but usually I just think that if you want something that resembles a horn section or orchestra, there's this magical thing called studio musicians that would be happy to help. Maybe it's because I play the sax, I dunno. That said, it's not as irritating as, say, drum machine or auto-tune, which are both pure, undiluted evil. But that's just my opinion- you can take it or leave it as you choose.

Though I have strong folk roots, at heart I'm a mad scientist. I love playing with sounds, even drum machines and auto-tune are okay with me. No limits, no rules. I even enjoy creating sounds with whatever crap I can find around the house (I got a nice effect spinning two coffee cups against each other faster and faster, sounded like a space ship in a cheesy scifi flick)
It's probably why I'm so attached to the Beatles when they'd experiment and try new things. Kindred spirits.
Though I'll always be a guitar guy first (even Devo's best stuff, for me, is when they integrate guitars into their music) I'd love to get a synth and dink around with it.
