A couple of familiar movies have shown up as the TMS candidates the past few weeks, as some new epsiodes have started airing.
Last week, they aired the Clu Gulager/Demi Moore portion of Master Ninja 1 (although it was aired as an episode of The Master, complete with the opening theme) was featured. There is no way that it is public domain, so I'm thinking when somebody finds out if showed up, this episode will disappear from future reruns. A shame that Jesse James meets Frankenstein's Daughter will also get lost to the ages.
Last night, Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy was featured. It is one of my least favourite MST episodes, so I was really glad to see it get a well-deserved riffing. The first of the 'also done by MST' movies that was better than the MST version. It was edited down (removing a lot of flashback and walking scenes) and double featured with Swamp of Lost Monsters. They used a different print of RvtAM, this one contained an endorsement from the Young America Horror Club.
RvtAM riffs:
Ed: Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy? They certainly weren't going for nuance.
Ron: He got his shoe! Ed: That's a fair trade. A single used shoe for a gold breastplate and bracelet. That's what the conquistadors gave them.
During the homoerotic mummy attack scene: "It looks like the mummy has taken the secret passage"
Doctor: Laura come to me. Ed: Laura. Come faster, make this end. Ron: Laura. Close the gate. We're not paying to heat the entire neighbourhood.
Ron: Why is Phillip Glass giving a recital at cematary in Mexico?
On the watchman "He looks like someone whose vocabulary would include 'doggone serious'.
Ron: I guess time is money, but they are measuring it in pesos.
Liana: With the power use spiking like that, cops are going to think he's running a grow op.
As the watchman drinks - "He's hard at work"
This is like a UFC match between Ernest Borginine and Abe Vigoda.

Ah so people are watching it! Just posted about this show on the CT forum. I really like this show, yes it started rough but it's much better now. The constant reruns almost drove me away and that Gamers special with just Red wasn't very good but the last two weeks (the shows you are talking about) were both awesome. The Master was my fave but I haven't seen it on MST3K yet, the part with Ron turning into Roninja was my fave TMS moment so far, then the next week during the swamp movie when they did the exact same Roninja story but as Lake Erie Pete that was great. The Aztec Mummy riffs were awesome and that fight with the robot was classic level awful. Ed, Red and Ron have done their best riffing the last couple weeks I think the show has gotten into shape now.

I removed your thread in that board since this show isn't relative.
I've seen a couple episodes of this show thanks to canuckmstie. Killer Shrews and another that escapes me at this moment. I enjoyed them both. Found the riffing to be more along the lines of KTMA or Season One MST but had no problems sitting through them both. I plan to watch more as time allows.
CT is only available by download or DVD in the USA. And welcome to the board!

Searching for a This Movie Sucks page is what brought me to this board! I love the show and even though it's not MST3K.... NOTHING is MST3K but MST3K! I find the show funny. I agree totally they have too many reruns but I guess as they make more shows at least the reruns will be different. Also the gamer episode you're talking about was called Geek-O-Rama and that was actually only half of it, the second half of the show was a rerun of an old Ed the Sock show where he visits some jerk at his cottage and all the other cottage people hate the guy. That was actually kind of funny but still they should have had a movie in there somewhere! The best episodes have been the later ones so they are getting to a good place with the show and still hopefully improving. The Manster, The Killer Shrews, The Master, The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy, all these episodes have been absolute gold. Ron Sparks has been killing me with the comments and especially that Roninja/Swamp Monster thing. Ed the Sock has really found his groove cutting up the movies and is picking some great movies to cut up finally, I love that they have started doing double features and cutting the movies down so we are just getting the good stuff now. Liana is also great but I see her more as part of the group because yeah that Geek-O-Rama episode was so boring. They should've at least put the Ed the Sock cabin special first and then Geek-O-Rama after it. Still this show has me very excited they were back to reruns last week but hopefully this week will be another new one.

So, erm, This Movie Sucks! has covered Manos: the Hands of Fate. I'm actually surprised TMS! would cover Manos at all.
I'm not sure what to think about TMS!' riffing of Manos, given that I haven't seen the MST3K version. As for The Impossible Kid (i.e., the film with Weng-Weng the secret agent little person), I wonder if it's PD. It's nice for TMS! to even feature that film. I honestly think covering the films MST3K hasn't is one of TMS!' strengths.
Even through TMS! is still rough and has audio problems after six months, the show might progress to the point where it could find a home on DVD or iTunes. I wonder if TMS! is thinking that far ahead. Considering this two-fer and the Laser Mission episode that aired (I think) two weeks ago, I think TMS! is just trying to make episodes, period.
The host segments of Laser Mission were about combatting "Cheap Bastard Disorder," so I'm not sure if Steven Kerzner is already fed up with Channel Zero and CHCH. CHCH promotes TMS!, but only in its generic "new this fall" ads.
Does anyone else think Kerzner's already burning his bridges with Channel Zero? I don't think that's all Ed the Sock-style in-character anger, not if Ed's making "we don't know if we'll be kicked off the air" jokes. At the very least, CHCH could let people know when a new episode airs. I'm sick of episode roulette.

There does seem to be somewhat of a way to determine what's airing. The past two weeks, they've listed the episode number at chch's site. Two weeks back, Episode 7 was listed, and that was the Jesse James/Master ep. #10 was listed this past weekend, and it was wa new episode (Manos/Impossible Kid).
I'm still surprised they mentioned MST3K by name in relation to them discovering and popularizing Manos.

Trying out new guys to replace Ron Sparks was funny but I hope it was just a joke and he's not actually leaving, I love his movie comments. Ed, Red, Ron are all great. I'm not surprised they mentioned MST3K how can they not mention it when they are doing the same thing? Not saying they are copying or anything just saying why wouldn't they reference something so famous they are obviously very similar to? MST3K is the best so of course they know about it, Ed's not copying he's saying they did the same movie before.

Tonight, Episode 11 is mentioned. Hopefully, that's a new episode.
As for Ron Sparks, he wasn't in the "Bride of the Gorilla" episode, either. TMS! at least mentions that fact in the "Manos" episode, saying it's the second show Sparks wasn't able to attend because of "gigs paying real money." We are talking about a Hamilton station in the second year of rebuilding its independent credentials. I still would like to know how much money it costs to produce a TMS! episode.
Maybe Max Brand (i.e., the winning Ron Sparks impersonator) will be doing some riffing in the near future. I kinda liked his "I'm Ron Sparks and I'm coloured" line. It's hard to tell how well he'll do, since I think he's been on-camera for two episodes ("Laser Mission" and "Manos/Impossible.") TMS! needs a decent pro tem for when someone can't make the show...or get Andrew Young riffing again, just for larfs.
