Anyone watching?
Sadly Scotland didn't qualify yet again, twelve years and counting since our last appearance in a major tournament, but of course the USA did and are my dark horse team this time around.
I fancy Brazil, well duh, but I have my reasons. They now play stodgy, defensive football and I think it'll be a team that plays like this that'll win. Plus in any World Cup held outside Europe it has been a South American team that has won the tournament.
If a European team does manage it I think it may be Germany. They're unfancied but have a cracking wee team.
Spain, The Netherlands and Argentina will be the best teams to watch but sadly I think it'll be a boring team that goes on to win it.

Yeah, I'll be watching as much as I can. I also like Brazil to win it. I just don't trust Spain, despite all their talent.
As usual, I'll be rooting for the US, England (though not tomorrow), and the Dutch. Hopefully Robben will get back in top form.

I fully expect the 3 Lions to carry on with our long and glorious history of making it through to the quarter finals before losing on penalties.
Winners to come from Brazil, Argentina or Spain with England and the Dutch as good outside bets.
Oh and Robert Green to be exiled for 50 years or so.

Great game today. Very happy to be out of there with a draw. Still frustrating how close we came to three points, though. Even after watching the replay a few times, it's hard to believe the rebound on Altidore's shot didn't sneak in.
The US had the advantage at exactly one position, on paper at least, but that one position made all the difference. Big performance by Gooch. Man of the match.

You can always expect an English goalkeeper to give you a giggle!
Those bloody horns are really annoying me. I've taken to watching games without sound and listening to music instead. At least they could have played musical instruments or something instead of just making one monotonous sound. Gah!

I think the US missed a trick by not attacking the English right more. Johnson is an average defender at best and Carragher is susceptible to pace more and more. The US midfield sat very close to the back 4 when England attacked and we couldn't pass our way through. Wright-Phillips had a good game on the right but when Crouch came on, we reverted to route 1, far too quickly.

The US definitely needs a playmaker in the center midfield if we're going to be able to break down the lesser teams that will sit back and play defensive. Dempsey, Donovan, and Altidore were really deprived of service for much of the game. But Bradley & Clark did fairly effectively keep Rooney & Lampard at bay for most of the game, which I'm sure was their #1 priority. It might be time to give Torres a shot in the midfield, as we're going to have to press the attack against Slovenia to get those 3 pts. Playing two defensive midfielders in center midfield is probably overkill against Slovenia's relative lack of offensive firepower.

North Korea were actually bloody impressive. They were a 1000/1 shot before the tournament started but I tell you what with an easier group they could've gotten through. They're certainly better than about half the teams there.

I've watched a few matches so far. They've been a nice distraction during a really hard week. I need the mindless back-and-forth and the relaxing white noise of those horns.
As a complete futbol neophyte, who is often snarky about the sport, I'll admit that I've enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
That being said, for being "the best athletes in the world", they sure are a bunch of crybabies and sissies when they run into the slightest contact.

That being said, for being "the best athletes in the world", they sure are a bunch of crybabies and sissies when they run into the slightest contact. There's a simple explanation for that. It's called Gamesmanship. Gamesmanship is the simple art of taking advantage of any situation. Gamesmanship is a professional term. The rest of us call it cheating Having said that, you get wacked across the shins when you're in full flight, stone me that hurts.

Been watching some games, some major powers not doing so well. Boy did the USA get burned on that disallowed goal. That ref was either paid off or is a complete moron.
And I cannot stand those freaking horns. Those noise making idiots in South Africa are ruining these ganes. Oh to hear some singing and chanting and drumming again.

Just saw Germany take care of England rather easily. Wayne Rooney had a horrible tournament. The German team looks really talented....they could win the whole thing.
