Talk about some of your favorite fights, war campaigns, and duels in cinema history.
The Battle of Hoth - The Empire Strikes Back
Empire is a plethora of incredible scenes and worthwhile action. However, for the sake of this thread, I'll just talk about this iconic battle from early in the movie. In Star Wars, the Imperial forces came off more like marauding pirates than agents of an oppressive empire. In this sequel, Irvin Kershner and John Williams successful transform the Imperial forces into the Third Reich. Scene after scene, the Rebels suffer crushing defeat after crushing defeat. In this particular scene, the Rebels are beset by the oppressive fire of the Empire's metallic walking juggernauts. The Imperials Walkers are so fascinatingly animated by Phil Tippett. One of my favorite shots is near the end of the battle as we see Rebel troopers scattering beneath the feet of the Walkers, giving an excellent scale of just how overwhelmed the Rebels are in their efforts to topple the Empire.
Lee versus Cave Guards - Enter the Dragon
Even though I have some admiration for Shih Kien's portrayal of the one-handed Han, this scene is still by far the best scene from this picture. Bruce Lee's second venture into the underbelly of Han's lair sets off an alarm, forcing the reluctant agent to do battle with the drug lord's army of lackeys. Throughout the battle, Lee picks up a variety of weapons left by the fallen thugs, with his last weapon being a single nunchaku.
Jesse versus Slim Reeser - House II: The Second Story
The whole film is building up to this scene which is the grand highlight that makes watching all the worthwhile. The zombified Slim emerges and fires a fatal wound into Gramps before retreating into the mansion. Gramps gives Jesse his revolver and commissions Jesse with the task of taking down the man who killed his parents. At first, the calculating gunman gets the best of Jesse many times, but the power of the crystal skull that he plundered betrays him, giving Jesse just enough time to grab his rifle and blow Reeser's head completely off from his shoulders.
