If there's another show that has run its course worse than this one I hope not to run into it. My wife insists on watching every jig and polka.
At least David Hasselhoff is out.

I've been fortunate enough to have never seen a single second of this show.

Consider yourself lucky. Give me a few more years and I might know where to start a thread. And I realize it isn't much of a thread but my frustration level was so high I had to share it with someone.

This still sounds preferable to the Battle of the Blades, which sees ex-NHLers team with female figure skaters. If that sounds tolerable, I present you this - the musical stylings of Claude Lemieux. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GscWDUk3otA

I just find it amusing that, due to the popularity of the show, many of the dance experts/teachers have ended up becoming more famous (and therefore, "star"-like) than the so-called "stars" they are dancing with.
My parents (being ballroom dance enthusiasts themselves) enjoy the show quite a bit. Myself, not so much. Though it was fun to watch Master P zombie his way through the dances on his short-lived run a few seasons back. ;D

I forgot about your parents, Raja. Don't tell them my disgust for the show. My starting this thread is the equivalent of me kicking my feet and screaming about it like a baby. Everyone around me in the real world loves it so I just keep my trap mostly shut. But I knew I can vent here.

Eh, don't worry about it - they've heard quite enough hatred for the show from me, so they're used to it. Plus, they typically don't take hatred for the show as hatred for DANCING per se. What technical ballroom dancers do, and what the "Stars" do, are WAY 2 different things.

My grandmother got caught up in one of those ballroom dancing scams that target older people. They ended up filching almost $100k out of her before she died. She even took out a mortgage on the house my grandfather worked years to pay off in order to fund their, now closed, new studio. Sad. They totally played her, made her feel special, etc. The bittersweet part is that I hadn't ever seen her happier or more proud of what she was doing. But they didn't even show up at her funeral. Bastards.
Oh...uh...but on topic: Go Emmett Smith!?!? How many years ago was that now? Isn't Bristol Palin on this one?

Ballroom dancing scam? I've never heard of that. That's pretty sick.
One wonders how many threads we can build from the template of: I hate <INSERT NAME OF POPULAR CURRENT TV SHOW>, and yet all of my family members watch it.

When it comes to DWTS, I'm stunned by how many headlines the show makes the next morning after it airs. It's always one of the top five or so stories on news sites. I just don't get it.

i have told my co-workers MANY times that i am not the least bit interested in reality tv shows. yet just earlier this week, a guy i work with gave me a play-by-play of DWTS. if i'm not hearing about that one i hear about survivor or american idol. what i hate is when CNN news has something on about idol or even DWTS in their top of the hour news where i work. really? there's nothing else going on to report?
