I had a great time at the show. There were a lot of people this time which kind of surprised me, since it was playing in at least two other theaters relatively nearby. Anyway, the only bad thing was that they were showing "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" so instead of being able to read the movie fun facts that ran before the show, you really couldn't read them. I blame the theater for that, though.
The shorts were great, and I agree with MJ that they really should have done a coilly callback. I'm looking forward to the next one.

My party of five and I had a great time. The theater was well attended, and everyone laughed to beat the band. I don't think it was as funny as Reefer Madness, but still damn hilarious. I, too, was hoping a third short. Was there supposed to be one?
I have been a fan of Paul F Tompkins since Mr. Show. His little shtick was only so-so, but I felt that his riffing portion was solid. And I agree the gag of him replacing Kevin was well done.
One question to any keen eyed viewers out there: Did anyone recognize the witch of savings from something? Her face seemed familiar.
Also, does anyone know the possible release schedule of the live events to DVD? I just checked Amazon, and only saw the Christmas and Plan 9 DVDs. I am dying to relive the Reefer Madness show, as well as this one.

The Live version of Reefer Madness hasn't been released yet. I thought a friend told me it was coming out in November or December, but I'm not sure on that.

I'm especially looking forward to the shorts! This time of year, being in New York and all, I don't know....you might be a bit disappointed. Well, we have had a fairly mild October, so you never know. I had a great time last night. My theater was completely sold out, and the crowd was lively and ready for riffing fun. When the seemingly endless Gloria Estefan footage finally stopped, one guy called out, "Next: Celine Dion!" The "Bob Rifftrax" commercials set the table very nicely. The shorts were superb. I loved them both, but the grocery witch short was probably my favorite, just for its sheer oddness. I saw that paper short on a local cable show a couple of years ago, and at the time I thought that it would be a good choice for Rifftrax. I'm glad they scooped it up and did such a good job on it (but a Coily reference would have been nice). The guest riffer did quite well and seemed to fit in nicely with the other guys. I liked the voice he used for the demonic paper bag. The movie riffing was great, and I noticed quite a few fresh jokes. All in all, a fun evening.

My friend James and I had a great time as always when it comes to Rifftrax Live. Our theater was less than half full but everyone was having a blast and laughing alot.
The two shorts were really bizzare and thus hilarious. I loved the balance in the witch and the grocery store short with Kevin doing a riff on the Stimuls Package early on and then Bill with the riff "Vote for Christine ODonnell" at the end. I was expecting a riff on her. If you going to make political riffs, poking fun at both sides is what I like to see. I'm a conservative guy and I laughed as hard at the ODonnell riff just as much as the Stimulus one. Kevin's “Uncle Ben’s gonna have to cut a witch!” was pure gold too.
Paul was alot of fun, I liked his routine about the monster in the mirror in horror movies, and he did a good job riffing on the Paper Bag short. I especially loved his "And now we will march on Saurman!" riff. I also agree that the skit during the movie where Mike and Bill replace Kevin with Paul was very funny.
The riffing on the movie was great, they put out alot of good riffs that had me laughing hard. I loved how they made fun of the Doctor, not moving his arms much and him saying "Siditive" instead of Sedative. I loved the callback to the Paper short too.
Another A+ effort from Rifftrax. I can't wait for the next Live show!

Does anyone have a picture of the bag's face from "Paper and I"? I would love to (pleasantly) freak my wife out by leaving a fairly accurately drawn bag under her pillow.
I tried to make a Coily once, but it didn't pan out...No Springs!
Thanks in advance! M

A couple things my sleepy self didn't mention. Our theater had us in a relatively small room. I estimated about 60 in attendance but at the very last minute another 30-40 people streamed in. So our little room was almost packed with about 100.
I did think the guest riffer did a good job riffing and seemed like a rather pleasant fellow. Three ladies sitting a row or two in front of us got up and left during the middle of the feature. They did not appear amused. I wondered if they were there for the movie itself and were irritated by those people talking over it.

Does anyone know if they are planning any encore showings in theaters? I wasn't able to make it out last night. :-(

One joke I didn't get. When Carol Ohmart (Vincent Price's wife in the film) was lying on the bed and started to get up, Bill (I think it was Bill) starting making a duh-de-duh-de-duh-de-duh musical type sound. The onscreen audience was cracking up, and the people in my theater were roaring as well, so Bill did it again. Only I didn't get the reference. A little help?

Was it the time when someone said "What's Happening"? If so, that's the name of a sitcom from the 80s, and while I don't think I've ever knowingly watched an episode of What's Happening, I'd put money on Bill's musical vocalizations being that show's theme song.
By the way, how many Bob Rifftrax commercials were there? I got there early enough to see two of them, and I'm curious to know if there were more.

One question to any keen eyed viewers out there: Did anyone recognize the witch of savings from something? Her face seemed familiar. I don't know her, but the milkman was in Attack of the Eye Creatures. Man that witch irritated me. Maybe my lazy ass doesn't want to cook my own damn pudding! (I wonder if anyone would have balked - would she have turned them into a newt?)

My favorite parts were the John Wayne riffs for the walking skeleton in HoHH, plus the creepy kid from the paper bag short, and the riffs that made him seem more demonic ("paaaaperrrr"). His single-mindedness reminded me of the kid from the original Gamera movie. And I agree about the Coily callback, though the riffing voices they used for the bag were a lot like their Coily voices, so it almost seemed like a callback. A fun show.

This was my first Rifftrax live show and it was great fun. Although I didn't care for Paul F Tompkins too much but I never saw Mr. Show so I guess that makes a difference. Also I wish it hadn't been a crappy colorized version of House on Haunted Hill. The shorts would be freaky bizarre on their own. Just what audience was that supermarket thing intended for?

I asked the same thing to my fellow attendees about the supermarket thing. Who were they trying to convince to drink powdered milk? I watched the short again last night. Still couldn't figure it out.
