This has been around for awhile, but the rumor was that it was going to be a web/download only series. Now it's going to be a real series: www.tvsquad.com/2010/10/22/syfy-adama-blood-and-chrome/Basic story: William Adama as a young Viper pilot during the first Cylon War. The real question: are they going to axe Caprica and replace it with something more "action-y"? I hope not. I actually think Caprica is a really interesting show, but I think it's too slow-paced for most audiences. The original BSG interspersed all the character and issue plots with plenty of fighting. Caprica has less of that, but I think the on-going way the show is about memory and loss is really well done.

I heard around a month ago that if that week's episode of Caprica didn't get high enough ratings, the series was going to be canceled, but I have no idea whether or not they ended up getting the ratings they needed.
Personally, I'm not very big on Caprica, but I can't even really say why. After seeing the pilot, I decided not to watch the series. Seeing ads for recent episodes, they look interesting, but I've missed so much that I'd have no idea what's going on if I were to start watching it again.
Anyway, I'll definitely watch Blood & Chrome. I found this quote from the article interesting:
"I think ultimately the arc of the pilot and of the series is about getting Adama to be who you came to know in 'BSG,' but it's also about the deep relationships he forms. And I don't think there are any deeper relationships than the ones you form in life-or-death situations."

Sounds very cool, and I'll agree that I never got into Caprica like I should have. I guess there will always be time with DVD releases and so forth, but I should have been supporting it more from the start.
Blood and Chrome could be good. I'll give it a shot, for sure.

It's possible that it doesn't mean a damn thing for Caprica. SciFi/SyFy spent years with two concurrent Stargate shows running, there's no reason why they couldn't do it with Galactica, since it's another of their most popular properties.
That said I still haven't seen Caprica. My girlfriend says it sucks ass though.

That said I still haven't seen Caprica. My girlfriend says it sucks ass though. I understand her reaction. After the first few episodes, I called it CRAPrica. I wasn't alone in that. But it's really developed quite well. If you're expecting more BSG, you'll be disappointed. But they've done a really nice job of using SF tropes in a way that emphasizes some of the philosophical and moral questions they want to raise. But it can be a bit slow on plot at times -- it is definitely a slow show. I kind of like that, though.

I feel guilty for having never watched it now. I hope it ended with proper closure, because it would suck to make a prequel series with no ending.
