I hate my job sometimes, too, but I don't bitch about it every time someone compliments me about something I don't feel is my best work. If you hate your job that much, go back to being a carpenter. Harrison Ford can be grateful that people liked his work in the past and still want to buy tickets now. He still doesn't have to like the movies. He doesn't have to appreciate the process that occurred if from his point of view it sucked, and he doesn't have to be crawling on hands and knees to the fanboys and fangirls just because they once paid for a ticket, or have revolved their life around them. Frankly, he doesn't owe them anything. They paid money for a service he provided. He fulfilled his commercial and artistic obligation. He's a human being with his own opinions and life, and it doesn't belong to his fans or his old job if he doesn't want it to. Don't get me wrong-both you and Mumms are allowed to have your opinions of his attitude. I'm admittedly somewhere in the middle of it myself. But also try to see it from his perspective too. EDIT-Sorry to go on about this, but it's a hobby horse of mine. Working with as many performers as I have, I feel for them when they try to have a life outside of a role or gig and folks insist they must be that person all the time.

Next time I see Harrison Ford, I'm gonna try to get him to be a role he's never performed.
Like, Sideshow Bob or something.

I just don't understand the need to essentially insult people who like a role in which he seemed willing to participate. If you don't like your performance, blame George Lucas. Blame yourself for taking the role and disappointing yourself. Don't blame the people who enjoyed it and plunked down money for it. He's telling me what he helped sell me is crap. I don't think he's right about that, but he was in the movie, so I guess he'd know.

Just because he says he doesn't care for it doesn't mean that people who do should be insulted by proxy. I hate the Matrix movies but that doesn't mean people who like them should take it as a personal affront to them and their family unto the fifth generation. It's my opinion based on my taste. And I don't get the impression he thinks everyone else should dislike the flicks just because he doesn't. Again, it's his opinion. It's no better or worse than because he was in them. One can go on about "making" Ford an icon, but as he is his own person he can think as he pleases-the only thing getting hurt are some fans' feelings. I admit to having some sympathy for a person who spends years trying to politely move on and have people still refuse to let him, to the point where he gets almost unpleasant about it. If you don't like his attitude, do as you said and use your pocketbook. He'll make the movies he wants and go right on not liking Star Wars, and you can spend your money on something else. No one loses.

Many years ago, not long after I got out of college, I worked very briefly for MCI selling phone service. I was pretty terrible at the job (and a total wiseass to customers and my supervisors alike), but I did set up long distance service for Harrison Ford's PA/secretary on his behalf. I remember telling her how much I enjoyed Ford's performance in "Mosquito Coast." She seemed a little stunned and said, "No one ever mentions that one. It's his favorite. Everyone goes on about the Star Wars movies and it drives him nuts." LOL

I can understand hating being asked about a job he did 35 years ago, and not liking the movie. But hating a movie seems a little extreme.
