According to the large majority of reviews, amateur and professional, that I've read, Skyline (which just opened last night) appears to be a real stinker. Not surprising since NBC/Universal, owner of the SyFy network, is also responsible for this show which even features an actor who appeared in a recent SyFy movie and a current series, "Haven".
Anybody here seen this movie? Do you think it's "funny bad" and worth a dvd rental, or is it just plain bad?
On a semantics(?) note, the title of this movie has a cool vibe to it - too bad the contents don't match!

It probably won't be next since they wait for DVD release, but I have little doubt that they'll do it since it's a hype machine at the moment. I keep hoping that they'll tackle the directors' previous film, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, but so far it's been a very long wait.
It's interesting to note that Skyline only costed $20 million to make though. If I read correctly, all the effects were done first, and the actors were brought in later to finish the movie with about $500 thousand. Ambitous, I must say. If it works, it probably could have revolutionized effects movies. The blending of the two doesn't look too bad so far, but I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't say for certain.
But if AVPR was anything to judge the talent of the Strause Brothers by, then yes, the movie sucks beans and it would make great RiffTrax fodder.

I saw the movie and while it was okay, it does have a great potential for riffing. I wouldn't be surprised if they do this one in the future.

I haven't seen Skyline, but from everything I've heard, I'd give it a 99% chance of getting a Rifftrax treatment as soon as it hits DVD. I keep hoping that they'll tackle the directors' previous film, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, but so far it's been a very long wait. That movie definitely needed a mocking commentary, but it seems more dark and disturbing than what the Rifftrax guys normally do. Saw is the only film that jumps to mind that is anywhere near AvPR in that respect. I'm just not sure I see the film ever being selected because of that (although to be fair, AvPR is almost comical in how hard the filmmakers tried to be edgy).

I didn't think it was darker than the original Alien, which was tackled by Bill and Kevin a while back. It seems like it should be right up their ally, with it's silly slasher movie plot and hokey effects.
