Ah, see? This last ep just happened to be co-written by Roday, and he proved my point nicely. It had more of the feel of earlier seasons of Psych, though still not QUITE laugh out loud funny as older episodes. (And it was bittersweet, because the end is nigh and they were a bit more serious in spots). I think he co-wrote another one they are doing with guest star Bruce Campbell. Can't wait for that one. (When he writes them, he seems to give the other characters more to do).
And kudos to Kirsten Nelson for directing this last one. I think it was well done.

I've loved the last 2 episodes. The flashback to the '60s was a lot of fun, and tonight's goof-fest was the kind of chaos I love about this show. It reminded me a lot of the first season (especially the Spelling Bee episode). They really let the guest stars loosen up and gave them all something fun to do, unlike earlier eps this season. The mysteries haven't been all that suspenseful, but they seem to be having a blast. It's as if they decided to turn everything up to 11 (or 15) for these final few episodes. The previews for next week's penultimate ep look like crazy fun, too. I guess they're saving up all the heartfelt drama for the finale.

Yes, this last ep actually made me laugh out loud (that's getting to be a tired saying in the internet world ). It had the feel of earlier episodes for me as well. They're going to have a marathon one of these nights - I don't think it's this Friday, I think it's closer to when the last episode runs, maybe the Friday before, where they'll show, I don't know if they're showing all the episodes, but a good number of them and I think some behind the scenes stuff, and some fans saying goodbye. I hope they have some future made for TV movies or maybe even a theatrical movie when this is over, if they can get enough of a budget to do it and everyone involved is on board. It' too good of a show to just end, even though I guess they were running out of ideas. When I saw interviews for this season, before it actually started, it didn't seem like they wanted to end it yet. Does anyone know - was it the network that decided to end it or was it just the people making the show wanted to move on and do other things and not let it get stale? (I know James Roday and Dule Hill as Shawn and Gus when making the announcement during one of the episodes said they wanted to leave on a high note, but I don't know if that was just something they did to soften the blow a little, heh). P.S. - I liked the last episode, too, with the food truck, though it wasn't quite as good as the flashback episode or this more recent one.

Well, it's over. Darn. Last one wasn't too bad. The proposal was nice, though, I don't know, that sort of stuff is just so predictable and boring to me. I would like to just pretend season 8 didn't happen and they're still in Santa Barbara doing their thing. San Francisco? That just doesn't work for me. The after "pshow" was fun to watch. I liked how Roday gave a shout out to "Talking Dead". Right after the actual show when they showed them all sitting on the couch, he shouted, "I can't believe they killed Carl! He was so young!" James is so darn cute. It was nice that they had some former guests giving their congratulations and goodbyes to the show.

And, oh, yeah, I forgot - Val Kilmer IS Dobson.

Another thing I didn't notice: Someone who actually watches Monk probably noticed it sooner, but I never watched a full episode, only bits and pieces, and I was just watching part of a show. He's based in San Francisco, and when Shawn and Gus show up at the Chief's and Jules' crime scene and say they'll just set up shop there, Chief Vick says they "already have a guy" and Jules says he's "alphabetizing the pantry" I'm assuming they're talking about Monk. Perhaps just a wink to the other show, but, hey, fans always wanted a cross-over episode, maybe they'll do a movie with characters from both shows.

That was totally a Monk reference. Psych owes its success to being on after Monk in the early days, and I think Franks & Co. always acknowledged it. I'm sure Tony Shalhoub has moved on, though. Too bad he couldn't cameo with Kilmer and Zane for that episode.

I was just watching a bunch of outtakes and "psych-outs" on Youtube. They should release a DVD of just these, they must have HOURS of these things. (There's one of clips from all 8 seasons that's over 2 hrs. long!).
I know they have a bunch on each season's DVD's, but they should just release more of them, heh, and all together along with the "After Pshow". They released the Season 8 DVD right when the show had ended and the after show was live, so they didn't have time to put it on there.
Still miss this.

Anyone get the feeling that sometimes Shawn just did this to drive Gus nuts?

Psych is one of my favorite shows right now! My mom's also really into it, and she bought all the DVDs. So even though it's over its like MST3K for me, there are still more episodes I can watch that are new to me. The first episode I saw was the one with the daredevil. My mom was watching it, and when a detective show is on tv I can't resisist getting pulled into it. One of my favorite things about it is that it has mysteries, but is still lighthearted and funny. I also really like how well played some of the characters are, like Desperaux, Yin, Yang, Lassiter, and of course Shawn and Gus. Especially the moments like when Lassie geeked out over finding his favorite land mine in a suspect's gun room, or when we see Desperaux wearing a suit just hours after escaping from prison with the full intention of going back.

Have you seen "Last Night Gus" or "Office Space" yet? Those are two of my favorites - I had to pause for a pee break watching "Office Space" I was laughing so hard. Also love the one you just described, "Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part".

And Woody the Coroner was very good.

Awesomeness. Edit: The "I just wanna go home" that Corbin Bernsen utters is actually an outtake as you can see Tim Odmunson is about to laugh.

Just watched Office Space. I think Lassie has the best line. (to Juliet): "Are you carrying Spencer's unborn demon spawn?"
At home I usually watch tv with family, and I'm the only MSTie in the house. So I save MST for the school year, when I can be alone at my computer. Summers I focus on other favorites like Psych.
