Good Lord what a thing that was. Bill's New York jokes were wonderful, especially the callback to Squirm.

So I finally decided it's time for me to get into Rifftrax, and this was my first one. The guys talking about it on twitter sucked me in.
The movie? PAINFUL. I think some of the MST3K movies have competition in the "Worst Movie These Guys Ever Riffed On" department! And why the hell did we need that HR Pufnstuf/Banana Splits reject thrown right in the middle of it? What did Thumbelina have to do with Santa? Santa, meanwhile, sounded either stoned or hungover.
All that said - I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard and so frequently watching a movie get snarked on. Probably when I saw Space Mutiny for the first time last year. The riffing was FANTASTIC! The "close your eyes during this part" thing had me laughing so much I had to pause the movie because I couldn't breathe! And Bill's evil laugh when the Ice Cream Bunny arrived had me in hysterics.
Needless to say, I'm definitely going to be frequenting Rifftrax from now on!

Sans riffing I never would've watched this nightmare again, but I was happily surprised by how easily I breezed through it WITH riffing.

This is one of those films that just defies explanation even when you know the background behind it (a cheap cash-in release by a local amusement park with ideas above their station). All you can do is stare at the mangled wreckage on-screen and wonder about how many casualties there were.

This movie bugged me on a soul level. It was one of those eerie movies that somehow reached back into my childhood (and I was born at the tail end of the 80's!) and had me nostaliga-ing, yet disturbed. The guys made it completely bearable, though, and I love 'em for that.

Sans riffing I never would've watched this nightmare again, but I was happily surprised by how easily I breezed through it WITH riffing. really? you breezed through it, huh? yes, the riffing made this monstrosity much easier to take. but it is still going to be in the stack of "maybe once a year or so" to watch. i agree with calli - the movie unriffed is absolute torture. i thought it would be fun to participate in the board's project to riff it, but it seemed like no time into it before i was watching it through my fingers, planning my cowardly exit of the project. that guy who played santa should have been shot. at the very least arrested. i distinctly remember when watching the unriffed version, a part when you barely hear santa say "dammit" under his breath while feebly attempting to dust the smattering of sand that had him "stuck" in the sand. but i missed it this go around. maybe it's better on paper, but a young girl being forced to marry a frog, then escaping to be forced to marry a pervy old mole, then escaping to marry a fruity stoned boy in a short skirt who proposes to her in the first ten seconds of meeting her is a BAD BAD movie. and that isn't even touching the santa story. favorite riff - from kevin when he said, "braaaaaainnnnssss" when the weird ass bird slowly opened its eye. and bill's laugh for the ice cream bunny cracked me up, too. i don't know how they managed to get this one done. the punch and judy christmas short was weird.

I just saw this. Genius. Awful film, very well riffed. Loved it so much I watched it again.
And am I the only one who wants to go Pirates World?

The movie is pure pain. Not fun at any level. The riffing makes it bearable -- just.
I thought the actress playing Thumbelina was cute -- she was like 20, right? Otherwise I feel ashamed.
Anyway, not cute enough to justify watching this ever again (unriffed). Even with the riffing, I don't see putting this into high rotation.

Yes, I believe you are. I'd go with you, Shep. As long as you don't make me ride any coasters. they were definitely on to something voicing safety concerns about that horsey ride. that looked pretty damn dangerous man! what happens if you fall off and you wind up with more of these horses coming at you, looking to grind your bones? dag, man! i miss the 70s, when the rides were life-threatening and the playgrounds were even worse!
