I'm finally getting around to reading Gaiman's Sandman stuff. I'm three collections in now.
It's good. I like it. However, I don't (yet, probably) understand why this was considered quite so groundbreaking and awesomely wonderful.
So are there any fans out there who can explain the utter and total love?
I'm going to keep reading and finish the whole thing - it's definitely worth the investment (of time AND money...I'm glad I'm not a huge comics reader or I'd be completely broke).
(And a side question...Doctor Destiny, or at least his older, non-Sandman incarnation...he and Skeletor look almost identical. Anyone ever mention a potential stealing job one way or the other?)

I got the first two volumes a few years ago then got distracted by other comics. I'll be getting book 3 for Christmas (the one where all the fans say it gets really good), which is nice because they just rereleased it with improved coloring.
Apparently they're redoing the entire series this way, which is good becuase I noticed in the first two books the colors could be rather sloppy.

It's one of those comic series where you have to read through the series further to appreciate it.
