Had a feeling San Francisco International and (especially) Riding with Death would be the top vote getters. They definitely seem to define the 70's better than the others, what with the slang, styles, music, overall "Made-for-TV" feel, etc. So it's fun seeing some of the others vie for third place.
Who will show? Touch of Satan or Angels' Revenge? Or could Track of the Moonbeast have a late surge and take the #3 spot? I'll probably close this poll on Friday, so get your votes in!
EDIT: I just realized I can't ACTUALLY close the poll, so I'll just CALL it closed on Friday and we'll see which eps are in the top 3. :-)

I have to say the only one I'm not that fond of is Dr. Z. The three I chose were SF International, Riding with Death, and Incredible Melting Man.

in keeping with Mrs. Torgo's observation that the 60s didn't really start until the middle of the decade (i think it may have actually been when the beatles started taking LSD and went scruffy), i couldn't help but notice that the late 70s are really different from the early-mid 70s. notice how different the hair and fashions are between "it lives by night"/"a touch of satan" and "angel's revenge," for instance. the whole feathered hair/stache thing feels really 80s to me, but the early 70s was all about drab, flat hair and sideburns.
i like to arbitrarily cite certain events as the de-facto decade transition events. i think the 80s started with the founding of van halen, for instance, even though they were founded in 1978, because there just isn't a more 80s band than van halen. i think the 90s started when the movie "heathers" came out, because although that movie came out in the late 80s sometime, there's just no more quintessential 90s movie than "heathers." the 00s as a decade are just depressing and i don't even want to discuss them. (although i notice that at least two news sources are citing the recent new year as the "end of the decade," whatever decade that is, and that makes no sense. the 00s have to have been from 2000-2009, not 2001-2010, that makes no sense, unless you literally want to say 1970 was part of the sixties, 1980 part of the seventies, etc.)
in other words, decades: SERIOUS BUSINESS. anyway, i went with GSI, squirm, and touch of satan. riding with death feels very 80s to me, CB notwithstanding.

Good point. However, you must admit both styles were equally embarrassing.

SFI, Riding, and Track. But there are lots of good ones in there. I have come to really like Diamond Head.

I just watched CN:DH last night and (in case you missed my "I Just Finished Watching" post) thought it was hysterical! More so than I remembered. Looks like "Touch of Satan" just might pull it off for the 3rd spot.

I declare this poll closed.
Riding With Death was the clear "winner" (I guess you could call it that) with 21.5% of the vote, followed by SF International and Pernell Roberts' smugness with a distant 12.6%.
Track of the Moonbeast almost made it, but Touch of Satan had a late surge and just made it into the sole #3 spot with 10.1% of the total vote.
Nobody loves Stranded in Space. Poor thing.
These results, of course, mean nothing in the real world and are for entertainment purposes only. Good day!

Way too tough. I would have to vote for at least 8 of them.

Not sure if we're talking about the eps or just the movies in them. If it's the eps, my vote goes for Giant Spider Invasion, with Touch of Satan a close second. (Steffi!!!!!!)

Which is to say, I don't see the same thing with the films that came out of Japan in the 1970's. I can't tell the difference between 1973's Godzilla vs. Megalon and 1966's Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. Similarly, I couldn't place 1968's Mighty Jack any better than I could 1987's Fugitive Alien. The Gamera movies and Time of the Apes look like they could have been filming simultaneously in the studio next to each other. . .except most of the Gamera films--except the one with Zigra--were filmed in the 60's while Time of the Apes was in the 80's! I know this is an old post, but I just want to point out that TIME OF THE APES and the FUGITIVE ALIEN movies were actually edited from TV shows that were produced and aired in Japan during the 70s. I think APES was 73/74 (putting it at the end of the PLANET OF THE APES craze) and STAR WOLF/FUGITIVE ALIEN was produced in 1978, right around the time STAR WARS came out in Japan. Sandy Frank got the rights to the shows and made feature films out of them in the late 80s.

Even as a movie it is my favorite nevermind the episode. Which they ended up viewing it twice cause the mads made them again at the end. Would have been mindbending to see them sit through the movie again.

GSI is indeed a very unique experience. i keep torturing myself on the top-3 ep thread and GSI is one that's on the inside track for top-3 status. i'm sure bill rebane is very excited.

Being born in 71 I can remember the awesome awfulness of that decade. I have an early grade school class pic wearing purple corduroy. I think Im still trying to recover from that. If you want to wallow through the 70s a bit more heres a site with an archive of 70s fashion and toys.. a lot of those toys I remember having and playing with. The clothes and home decorations are beyond description... cringeworthy.. www.plaidstallions.com/psindex.html

i was born in '69. the '70s were the worst decade i lived through, with the sole exception of every other decade i've lived through.
