Despite the lack of extras, I'm going to get The Incredibly Strange Creatures. I don't have Volume 9 so this will save me a ton of money. I already have the OOP Rhino release of Beginning of the End so I'm probably going to skip that one.

No extras huh? Sounds like I'll just be repurchasing Beginning of the End then. I've never liked the compressed look of that early Rhino DVD release. I just hope they don't use the exact same files from the disc made ten years ago.

They must have changed their minds. I thought I remembered on the Turkey Day announcement, that we were promised new extras on these DVDs. I'd get Beginning of the End, but without extras I don't need Mixed up Zombies.

BWard's been saying from the beginning these will be "bare bones." No extras, no poster art (bummer!). He even said at one point they only hope to sell a "few hundred" of each, but hopefully he didn't mean that literally.

On the fiirst announcement there was talk that their 'might' be extras. Since there are none and I own 'em both. I'll skip 'em. But it's good that they are back in stock for those who missed out on the initial releases.

Don't need Beginning of the End, but I will get TISCWSLABMUZ a.) to support the program and b.) like to have it on DVD.

Have the Rhino discs of both of these, so I don't see the upside of purchasing these if there's nothing new on them. I'm not that much of a completist.

It's understandable that they wouldn't produce new extras for a budget line of episodes that have already had a release, but I hope if they ever re-release an episode that has MST Hour wraps (like Cave Dwellers, I Accuse My Parents, etc.), they include them. That would definitely get a double dip from me.

Problem is that if they are only going to produce a limited amount of these Shout Select titles, if they do include any extras, the fans who already own the OOP dvds will also buy them. They would have to anticipate all the old fans plus any new fans who would want a copy, and manufacture a decent amount.

The cover art is cool, similar to the box sets but different. I like how
they have the movie posters on the front cover.

Got Beginning of the End in today.

I already owned the Rhino version and after viewing the new one I have to say its not an upgrade.

It does look less compressed, but unfortunately the "tape hits" errors we've come to hate crop up here as well. Way too many to simply ignore. The Rhino version did not suffer from this.

No extras/easter eggs either.

This version does have the missing commercial breaks that Rhino cut out. The visual problems hurt it more than help though so in the end Beginning of the End has two imperfect releases.

It is an unfortunate reminder that the "master" tapes being used to create these DVDs are degrading rapidly and nothing is being done to fix these errors that are now cropping up.

I recieved both Beginning of the End and Incredibly Strange Creatures
in my mailbox this mourning. I didn't think I would get them this early!

Noticed a few brief flickers at the start of Beginning, but other than
that it looks good to me.

I'll take a peek at Incredibly Strange Creatures later.
