One of the few "indie band" albums from the 90's I still listen to. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Underproduced and poorly mixed on a bad 8-track, but it is pretty much the only "emo" song I'll ever need:

sorry - i know this is another lengthy one and i don't expect anyone to listen to the whole thing unless they are into some old, incredibly shmoove jazz. this is the jimmy giuffre trio from 1959 doing a tune called the little melody. i love this video - i love jazz from this era - all smokey with long shadows of the players on the wall, so into their parts. my uncle, who is an old crabby guy now, used to play jazz with his trumpet and he is the one who has introduced me to a number of good bands and trios, including this one.

Hey, Emp, do you know the X-Files compilation _Songs in the Key of X_? There's quite a bit of stuff on there I imagine you'd like, most of it original for the album rather than just culled from other sources. I was only a fan of a few of the bands/artists on there, but almost every song is a winner. It's not exactly goth, but the dark and brooding theme is quite heavy.

It was my introduction to Soul Coughing and Nick Cave (I was but a pup). I still listen to it a lot for the mood.

cash's version of hurt is almost too much to take in. he mastered those lyrics in a way reznor never could. amazing that he could do that with a song after so many years. the difference between young cash and old cash is a great thing to witness.

I love how Claudine Clark belts this song out. It's like a cartoon mouse went feral.

Unreal, they were/are. One of my favorites ever. I knew there was something wise and tasteful about you. Here's another band packed with amazing musicians and one of the best rock vocalists of all time.

I'll see your Queen, and I'll raise you an even better version of it. (Not better without Freddie, but better in tribute to Freddie.)
