Hilarious! Second only to the Christmas show, I'd say. Personally, I think Jack the Giant Killer is a fun movie on it's own... at least I'm a fan of the movies it blatantly rips off: 7th Voyage of Sinbad = Overall visual aesthetic (and lead actor) stolen. Look of the giants apes the design of the cyclops from this film. The giant vs. serpent fight a blatant copy of the cyclops vs. dragon fight from Sinbad. Leprechaun serves same narrative function as the genii in Sinbad. Sleeping Beauty = Look of the bewitched princess aping Maleficent's design. Pendragon turns into a dragon in the same way Maleficent does. Wizard of Oz = Hourglass scene where the villain gives the hero an ultimatum. Pendragon's witches similar to Wicked Witch's flying monkeys. The Thief of Baghdad = Sigurd and the boy being turned into a dog and a chimp similar to Sabu being turned into a dog in this film. In both they briefly serve as animal sidekicks until regaining their true form. am I forgetting anything? I though the design of Pendragon's witches were actually pretty cool. actually, i'm with you on pendragon's witches, those were cool costumes. but egad, i think that was the worst stop-motion i have ever seen. it's a wonder harryhausen even survived seeing his work mocked in such a fashion. and i'm a stop-motion HO! i pretty much love it all, if there's stop motion i'm yours to lose. but this thing made the ending of "alien factor" look like "revenge of the sith."

^It was pretty rough. I'd say your average Davy and Goliath episode had far smoother animation, and the models themselves had rather weak, slapped-together designs (the best one was the gargoyle/dragon thing Pendragon turned into).

Thank God I live ten minutes walking distance from the theater.
Loved it! I wasn't sure what to think at first, because there was only one short, but what a doozie! And I did like the Something Bad clips, I enjoy the ones of his daughter's stories more then many of his others (no offense, guy.)
The singing over the credits was a bit Bobo Makes A Sandwich, but the stride was hit quite early and I howled with laughter (especially with lines like "I shouldn't have washed my hair in gasoline!" I've loved callbacks to earlier episodes since the old days.)
I too thought the witches' costumes were really neat and wanted one for a Halloween costume. You could tell they borrowed them from some local college with an exceptional design department and threw the rest of the 135.00 kitty into claymation giants, flying gargoyle bats, and Sigmund the Sea Serpent.
Best lines I recall:
"Thanks, imp. You really put me on the spot, here!" "He's still wearing that thong, you know." And of course, "Seize the bone!"

Little Man, you are a stone cold freak.
I also thought those masks and costumes were bitchin.

I had a great time last night. Excellent show from beginning to end. I thought the guys did a great job with that movie, and with the "What Is Nothing?" short. I still don't understand the point of that short. What were they trying to teach?
I thought the movie itself was fun. It's the kind of movie I would have loved when I was eight or nine.
My favorite riffs were the "Be right there" lines during the "dragon soldiers" scene. The least-threatening warriors ever.

Great fun!
My friend, who has no idea what MST is, had a great time (though he didn't get the call backs of course and was kind of looking around wondering why we all were laughing like goons). After the show he kept going on about how awful the movie was. "My friend", I told him, "That was Citizen Kane compared to some of the movies they have covered".
When you're not a B-movie guy and new to the the riffing experience, you have no clue how horrible it can get (I can't imagine what Manos or Coleman Francis would do to him)

I think the point of the short is that nothing IS something.

Saw this at the Burbank 16....had a great time, but arrived 10 minutes early and the presentation had already started! Got there just as they were introducing the short, so I don't think we missed anything other than maybe the introduction to Mike/Bill/Kevin, but I thought that was kind of weird. The short was a great warmup to the feature, especially since I agree that the first few minutes of the feature weren't the strongest. Once the bad stop-motion ogre-jester dance started, though, I was laughing uncontrollably. There were some dead spots here and there, but pretty much every scene with Pendragon was tailor-made comedy gold. I also thought some of his minions' costumes/masks were actually effectively creepy. Well, except for maybe Donkey-Boy. BTW, has anyone seen this? www.imdb.com/title/tt1351685/

Saw this @ the Rave Theater in Manchester Connecticut, and I thought it was great. I absolutely loved the two lonely island comments, and I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minuets when they did the Kanye West "you are awesome and ill let you finish" Taylor Swift reference. Also brought my GF, she always hated the MST3K dvds when I would watch them but she said she will go for me and guess what....................SHE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belated report due to computer technical difficulties. However, I loved this last Rifftrax show. (getting out notes) ... There were about 30+ people in attendance at the Regal Branford, Ct., Cinema 12, about the same number as past Rifftrax. I liked the 'nothing' short but the films' audio sounded like it was recorded with wads of wet cloth wrapped around the mic's. Just loved the two shorts with the little girls narration of her own words along with her dad's artwork. Loved it from the other Rifftrax show and loved it again here. To all the folks that said they didn't like it, all I can think of is that Mike, Bill and Kevin obviously think these little gems are just that, so I feel in good company. As for Jack the Giant Killer, this was my favorite feature from Rifftrax and I've been to all the previous ones. Maybe because I liked the film all by itself. The color and the sound were excellent. No straining to try and hear what the characters were saying. As a matter of fact I'm having blockbuster mail me the movie because I want to watch it un-riffed. There were a few instances of staticy disruption during the beginning of the film but thankfully this problem was cleared up. I thought the princess resembled a young catherine zeta jones. She looked good even in her green, evil incarnation. The coven of witches and spooks in Pendragons' castle were genuinely creepy to me, and the flying ones too. Favorite riff was Be Right There and second favorite was 'here comes two horses asses'

I also thought some of his minions' costumes/masks were actually effectively creepy. Well, except for maybe Donkey-Boy. I also liked the design of Pendragon's attending ghouls, including Donkey Boy because he's just the right kind of utterly bizarre that can only come from being rooted in actual folklore. He has a certain Pagan, Wicker Man (this was years before that movie came out, though) feel.

Folklore stuff certainly has a lot of headscratcher creatures like that, yes. I've always been a fan of the Mi'Raj, a deadly horned rabit.
Intriguing about the upcoming Jack the Giant Killer thing on IMDB, though I doubt it's a remake. "Jack the Giant Killer" is one of those fairy tale titles that gets added to different stories periodically.

I missed it because my boss scheduled me to work that night. I'll have to wait for the DVD. If it's VOD I can't watch it because I have no DVD burner on my computer.
