It's the hottest day since 2006, sometime in August I heard. Naturally, that means today is the day I had to spend about 4+ hours in a not-very-cooled-down van to drive to Chicago to pick someone up. Ugh...I need to go to the beach.

False advertising. That's better.

Second straight day at 100 here. We had a cold spring, too, so this is taking some getting used too.

The next three days are supposed to be in the upper 90's here. My biggest worry is that the dopes at Con Ed won't be able to handle the demand for electricity. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's still better than snow.

No, it isn't. You can ADD layers in the snow and cold.
Between the heat and the flooding this has been one of the worst years for mosquitos too.

I saw a program on the National Geographic Channel that said this is pretty much what it's going to be like. With the ice caps melting and more water escaping into the atmosphere, we're going to get a lot more rain, which apparently will lead to more hot summers.

It's still better than snow. I would take snow over heat anyday. No, it isn't. You can ADD layers in the snow and cold. Between the heat and the flooding this has been one of the worst years for mosquitos too. I agree. Heat, humidity, severe weather, endless bugs, what's so great about summer again?

You don't have to shovel heat.

Here in sunny California it's unseasonably mild. Early June and it's been in the 70s. Even some rain. Gonna be in the low 80s this weekend. Have a nice day.

You don't have to shovel heat. I'd rather shovel. And when the hell was the last you shoveled anything but poopie?

You don't have to shovel heat. Dude, I'm fat. I have to shovel the sweat. Seriously, even when I was skinnier, I would get heatstroke in 20 minutes in the sun. I burn in 15. I've still got my redhead's complexion. If you're cold, you can add boots, socks, sweater, coat, hat, etc. Drink something warm. Snuggle under a blanket. That sort of stuff. Physiology and decency regulate what I can do when it's hot.

I'm with Sia. In fact, I'll go so far as to say the temperature should never go above 70F in any circumstances.
