I finally sprung for my copy, because I really didn't want to buy a double dip, but the MST cast interview and Hotel Torgo were sounded too good to pass up.
This is unquestionably the most devoted set to a single episode there is. Or maybe it's more of the celebration of the movie. It's one or the other. But it was money well spent, I think. I like the smooth edit between the two Hired shorts too.

I got mine a few days ago on a trip to Best Buy. This is the first time I was disappointed with a special feature from Shout! I found the Jam Handy to the Rescue! feature exceedingly tedious and unfunny. It was an extreme chore to get through. Everything else was great, I loved the interview with the Cinema Titans about the movie itself.

Part of me wants to buy it but I already have the Rhino, the movie unriffed, and the documentary. dph sealed it for me. I'm passing on this one.

I bought the Shout Manos DVD.
I noticed that this particular MST3K re-release was encoded at a lower video bitrate (5.5mbps) than the previous Rhino release (6mbps). I haven't done a side-by-side video comparison but I do not see why we should be going backwards in compression of retail episodes.
I essentially bought this new Manos just to get the new interview of the Brains and the MST Hour segments, but the movie itself is a bit of a let-down since it is more compressed.
If you have the older version and don't care for the extras I suggest giving this a pass.

I love the set. Love the new extras. It was worth the double-dip for me.
