Doomsday Machine, with lots of new riffs. The CTers were on fire, too... lots of energy in the show. Oh, heck, I might as well do a review...
Front row was practically ON the stage, so we had to really look UP at the movie, and looking at them riffing on either side of the stage was like watching a tennis match. But it was fabulous anyway. They did a sort of coffeehouse as a warmup. Josh was the MC, he and Frank did standup, Mary Jo read some words from her book.... random words like "the" and "were", while Josh was playing the bass line from Walk On The Wild Side, Trace read from his book, and Joel did some magic. After the show we went through the line, and I got them all to sign Trace's book. It has a page with reviews from all of them (except, of course Trace), so they all signed there. It was great to have a few words with all of them. Joel was really warm, Trace pulled a joke on my name when he signed the book, and I had the nerve to ask Josh if he had anything to do with the movie Bad Teacher. There's a band in it and I was sure the bass player looked like Josh, but googling and IMDBing, I couldn't find his name associated with it anywhere. It would have been awkward if I asked and it wasn't him, but it was! He seemed complimented that I noticed and said "Good eye!" I also mentioned I'd see them again in March in NC. They looked at me confusedly. The other side of the country?
Well, not really a "review" per se. But that's my story.
