605 Colossus and the Headhunters: I watched this one recently for the first time, my friend picked it out. We have enjoyed many other sand and sandle flicks MST3K has tackled.
Man, what a boring and padded out movie. Totally ridiculous how the Princess fell for Maciste in less then 10 seconds. Plus our hero hardly does anything for the first half of the film! Ugh.
Pretty good episode overall, the riffing had some dry spells but they really got some good material from this movie. All the jokes directed at "MyCheeseSteak" were great. Several riffs were really killer.
(After MyCheesteak no sells a arrow to the upper chest) Crow: "Luckily, this was before death had been invented."
Servo: "Geez, they washed up at a Klingon language camp."
Mike: "So... apparently, the director has a girlfriend."
Crow as Colossus "I failed my Legend Finals"
Mike: "Colossus that's not a lock, it's part of the door."
Kermes: "The gods thank you, Milana." Servo: "Now GET OUT!!!!!!"
The host segments were a hoot, the whole Nummy Muffin saga was pretty funny. Loved how Frank threw a temper tantrum when Forrester sent Nummy up to Mike and the Bots, and his love song to Nummy was entertaining.
A fun episode, I enjoyed it.

503 Swamp Diamonds: I've been thinking about watching this episode for awhile, just never got around to it until tonight.
This was a decent episode, man this Corman movie was a stinker. Dull with plenty of Corman Trademark Padding. When the director is making alot of panning shots of the swamp, you know he's trying to stretch out the running time. Thankfully the lovely Beverly Garland helped keep me entertained, the undercover female cop was nice looking too. Mr Mannix himself, Mike "Touch" Connors, played his character kinda smug. I mean his date gets killed by a alligator and a few scenes later he's putting the moves on the cop! The body count was surpisingly high on this flick too. Plus all the girl fights provided some entertainment.
Riffing had its good moments, but there were some scenes were the jokes just didn't work for me. When they naile it, they nailed it good.
The short was good, they got some really good riffing off of that one. I loved the weiner jokes, and Servo got off a killer line
Narrator "How does Jeff get ideas like that?" Servo "From the voices inside his head." LOL
Favorite Movie Riffs: Joel: "Okay, we need volunteers to get killed at this campsite." Crow: "They're all doing a nickel at UPS!" Crow: (During one of the girl fights) "You normally find this sort of thing on pay-per-view!" Servo: 'These movies are on a collison course"
Host segments were fine, I liked how the short inspired Tom to ask Gypsy out for a date, and how Gypsy pulled the "lets just be friends" on Servo at the end. The U-Vision from the Mads was a weird but funny invention.
Overal, not oustanding but not a stinker. A decent episode

Mike: "So... apparently, the director has a girlfriend." Kermes: "The gods thank you, Milana." Servo: "Now GET OUT!!!!!!" These two riffs (well, tho whole scene, really) are perfect. "This is history's first really awkward moment." Another riff that kills me every time I watch this episode... General: "My men are ready for battle." Mike, as opposing general: "Oops... uh, mine aren't."

Watched Devil Fish today. Dad and I like to work our way through whatever shows up on Netflix for streaming.
The movie bored me, but the riffing was good, and I liked the host segments.

I begin my Turkey Day '95 celebration with...
The Crawling Hand
Hey, this is another movie where the monster's name is Paul, practically its own genre! This is one of the lamer Pauls: eye makeup, James Dean impression, and not much else to it!
I believe this was my first season 1 episode, so it had a lot of novelty for me at first. Now I feel it's just mediocre.

I started my marathon too, circa '93, though I'm beginning to wonder if the eps were identified in the bumpers. So far the first title thrown out has been Magic Voyage of Sinbad, which I recollect as the main event premier of that year's.
I had forgotten what a good ep that was. The movie has the occasional interesting visual, but exudes a weirdness that called up some solid riffing, backed up with great host segments like Crow's epic EVA or Dr. F's redux of Señor Wences. Much fun, even if he's not Skinbag.
Edit: Damn, next up is Manos, my DVD of which is thoroughly lost. I wonder if my ratty, old VHS is somewhere about?

Afriendlychicken is oddly attracted to this episode...okay, it's my favorite. No "Magic Voyage of Skinbag," no afriendlychicken moniker.

I actually burst out at that line. Hate to admit it, but all this time I thought it was from the "Chicken of Tomorrow" short.
My Manos tape turned up easily and was in pretty good shape. Hal P. Warren, my hat is off to you.
I needed something to puke in . . .

Next up came The Day the Earth Froze. A nice outing backed up with the infamous circus short, and perhaps my favorite Deep 13 invention: The Unhappy Meal. "There's a maze where you try to get the motorcade past the book depository."
Guess that'll be it for tonight, but a good start.

MST3K Turkey Day '95 (I think this may extend a day or two after Thanksgiving for me) continues with...
Manos, The Hands of Fate
A lot's been said about Manos, but I think upon this viewing I've hit on a single word that encapsulates the Manos experience: inexplicable. If you want inexplicable then this is the film that has it.

I'm started my annual marathon with some KTMA: "The Million Eyes of Su-Maru", "Hangar 18", and "The Last Chase". I'll resume "Legend of the Dinosaur" tonight. After that... 16 episodes to go!

And the marathon resumes with I Accuse My Parents.
This is actually a decent movie by MST standards, what with an actual plot and reasonably developed characters. I do wonder what GIs in combat areas made of it, though. Heh heh, only on this viewing did I put that bit together with how that marvelous "I accuse you, Joel!" segment is done.
I also love Gypsy's lip-synch of "Are You Happy in your Work?" Top it off with the Truck Farmer short (this lineup is almost a tribute to Games) and you've got one winning experiment!

Crash of the Moons was next up. Both this and the companion General Hospital episode are just so klandintu, which I presume is a semi-synonym for "grey." Thus the enjoyment is perhaps a bit lower key than the preceding experiments, but I still really like the show from this era, and how can one not love the introduction of the term "area"?
