Kinda puttered out on the start sove seadon nine, but there aren't many episodes, so it doesn't really matter.
Watched Phantom Planet, a movie with a very Irwin Allen attitude but trying to emulate Gene Roddenberry. Because I grew up on Lost in Space and spent my teens watching Star Trek, I kind of like this movie. The riffing just kind of flows with the movie making this a fun episode.
Made it through Werewolf too, though if you ask me he looks less like a werewolf and more like he just pissed off a tiny mushroom man.
Little Jack Frost reference there. OK, I'll shut up.
I'd watch this movie unriffed just for the character of Natalie. Not only does she have a giant rack, but the actress playing her is soooooooo bad. She makes the episode alone, and the rest of the movie is just gravy.

I haven't been sleeping lately (stress), so to help my insomnia, I've been trying to watch Gamera vs Gaos. I drift off after about 5 minutes, and sleep while it plays for another 10. Then I wake up enough to put my laptop on the bedside table and go to sleep. Except once I'm there, I can't sleep again. So I turn the laptop back on and go back to Gamera. I try and start at the spot where I fell asleep the last time. I drift off after about 5 minutes, and sleep while it plays for another 10. Lather, rinse and repeat.
So it's taking me 2 weeks to get through the episode at 5 minute intervals.

You lead an exciting life, Samptari!
Worked a really long (and lousy) shift and I'm too energized to sleep (and it's 3 in the morning!), so I'm continuing my MST until I nod off.
Started today with Hobgoblins, a movie with soft core porn humor and none of the simulated sex and phoney lesbians to keep you watching it. Riffing comedy is difficult, even if it's bad comedy (see Catalina Caper foe when it doesn't work), but this is an exception to the rule. Instead of mocking how unfunny the joke is, Mike and the bots work with the lackluster joke and find the humor in it. It's not the humor the director intended, but they got laughs out of this movie, which was no easy task. The cardboard cutout segment is a classic.
The Touch of Satan is next. Unimpressive production holds very little interest value, and even the riffing can't seem to find anything special in it. However, I will say that the segments with Steffi the babysitter are all-time favorites of mine, ensuring I'll be watching this one again.
Currently watching Final Sacrifice. Highly thought of, but merely servicable IMO. This is one doofy movie, but all too often the best our gang can think of is shouting "ROWSDOWER!" at the screen. Really...this movie deserves better than that.

The Touch of Satan is next. Unimpressive production touch of satan is one of my favorites and I have yet to be watching it and reflecting on the pros vs. cons of the production. Could you sight a few examples of the 'unimpressive production' to help me understand what you're saying. Thanks

It just feels flat and uninspired. There's an idea in the film trying to get out, but nobody seems intent on letting it float to the surface.

There's an idea in the film trying to get out, but nobody seems intent on letting it float to the surface. What is that idea that the film makers intentionally kept from floating to the surface?

I didn't say they were intentionally keeping it from floating to the surface, I said there's no effort being made on making it interesting. There's a difference. But thrn again I'm fueled on about 3 hours sleep at the moment, so maybe my typing skills are off.
The concept of people selling their souls to Satan out of love could have made a decent movie, but it didn't even come close here.

Slime People. This movie is goofy on its own, and I'm used to Josh's voice now, and so I enjoyed the experience quite a bit. "You can always find a blonde hair in a field of wheat. At night. In the fog." And the writer fellow, Tolliver,--tres amusante on his own. (And, come to think of it, more convincing as a writer fellow than that Werewolf guy was). It was a bit meta-fictional, his wanting to write a story about what was happening, so I'll pronounce Slime People as academic and ahead of its time. I will accept no dissent.

I said there's no effort being made on making it interesting. . So, in planning the movie, the producer and director and writer considered how the movie could be interesting but ultimately decided "eh, let's not bother"

So, in planning the movie, the producer and director and writer considered how the movie could be interesting but ultimately decided "eh, let's not bother" Once again that's not what I said. Now you're just going in circles. I just stated my opinion on the film, and I stated my perception off of what I saw on screen. It felt like making a movie just for the hell of it instead of making the movie because you were genuinely interested in what story you were telling. If you got something different from it, that's fine. But don't bark up my tree trying to correct my perceptions and opinions. I honestly don't feel like getting into a debate over a small blurb I wrote about a movie that is, quite simply, a pile of crap.

And I explained why I thought it was too. Yet quotes were taken out of context and interpreted in an asinine way. I'll let anybody enjoy any movie they desire, you know, live and let live. But I always wished to be treated the same, honestly. And we all usually have different impressions on productions. Believe it or not, half hearted productions exist (most of them are cited as being An Uwe Boll Film) and I got that impression from the Touch of Satan.

Sigh. I'm done.
Let me edit this final note: All of these were posted in a daze of very little sleep and a bit irritable. Since it wasn't going anywhere pleasant I decided to just stop.
Apologies to everyone for fueling the thread with negativity.

Finished up season 9 with Devil Fish, a Jaws cash in that looks and smells like ass (like your random Jaws sequel). The riffing, while not spectacular, gets the job done. And I love the Italian sketch (I howl with laughter everytime I read WARNING: RACIAL SLUR!
There's only one episode from season nine I haven't seen, and that's Projected Man (the only episode of the Sci-Fi run I haven't seen either, though I haven't seen Space Children since it first aired). But I got a fresh batch of seasons from sky the other day which I intend to dig through when all of this is over, so that's going to change very soon! I'm excited for that!
The ninth season episode I'd like to see on DVD more than any other would be...no, NOT Pumaman, though that would be a close second...the Screaming Skull. Love that episode, and the Gumby short? Amazing.
Probably the largest ratio representation on DVD with 9 out of 13 episodes released goes to season ten, so while I'm on the last season, I've still got a few days to go.
Soultaker up to bat. What a classic! Even before I knew who Joel and Frank were, I loved it.
What? Don't look at me like that! Our cable didn't hav Comedy Central, but we did get the Sci-Fi Channel. I also didn't get regular internet access until 2000, so I had no way of knowing this show even existed before the big move. I was kind of shocked when this episode aired and the announcer said it wad the tenth season. I though "Huh?"
Anyway, the movie has its good points but is underthought and underbudgeted. I watched the interview with Joe Estevez on the disc because I had forgot it was there. Always good to see an actor who "gets it," so Joe earned cool points in my book. The riffing is hilarious and the skits ar legend. Gypsy cracks me up in this episode.
"Jump up my tube, white boy!"
Finished up with Girl in Gold Boots. Lots of bikini shaking and booby bouncing without a story getting in the way makes this my favorite movie ever. The roffing is pretty strong and the host segments make me giggle. Good episode.
