Ah, I see. So, I guess I should be looking forward to most other episodes in this season. What would you recommend in particular? I've heard many people say Godzilla Vs. Megalon was the best episode of season 2, but some people prefer Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster or other episodes. What should I watch next?

Yeah, I was definitely trying to drive to the point of 'dont let Hellcats speak for the rest of season 2' Now, both Godzilla episodes are quite good but I prefer Megalon slightly over Sea Monster (Meg is just goofier, and you'll spot my avi in it) and will be curious to see which of the two you prefer. I'd suggest watching them in order for continuity because there are callbacks. other season 2 highlights include 202 Sidehackers, 204 Catalina Caper, 207 Wild Rebels, and 210 King Dinosaur*. I would encourage anybody to watch every episode but if youre not too keen on wasting 90 minutes, even during lockdown, you may want to avoid 205 Rocket Attack USA and 211 First Spaceship to Venus - definitely the lowlights. *includes quite possibly the worst - meaning dullest, least funny - short they ever did, so you'd lose nothing to skip it

For Season 2 my sentimental favorite is Rocketship X-M because it's the first episode I saw all the way through way back in 1990. I like the rest of Season 2, other than the three "biker" episodes. All three are near the bottom of my list of favorites for the entire series, other than the revival which killed my interest in the show entirely for over two years, but that's another story. I've watched very few episodes at home since I came back to the show and this forum last November, but for the past few weeks I've been going through every episode in order at work (I'm currently still working half my usual hours because my data entry job is more or less "essential" since we do work for the state and for a major bank. I'll get paid for four hours per day even if I don't work them). I do this just by listening to them off YouTube or from whatever other source I can get them. Even the ones I don't particularly care for are somehow different by just listening to the audio. I've seen most of them so many times I don't need to see what's going on. Besides, I'm not supposed to have anything video going while I'm working so half the time I have my phone turned over so no one else can see, and since I use headphones so no one else knows what I'm doing. As of now I'm up to Episode 423- Bride of the Monster, and will probably get through that and Manos on Monday. I'm even keeping a checklist so I don't miss any.

Sidehackers is actually one I kinda avoided because the movie was just so sickening. I found the infamous deleted scene on YouTube and it honestly traumatized me a bit. But thankfully, it's not in the final episode and I'm sure Joel and the crew will make the movie go down much smoother. I've watched through some of Catalina Caper and liked what I saw, but I haven't finished it yet. I'm looking forward to revisiting that one. And I'll be sure to watch Megalon first. I'm probably not gonna get through every episode right now. When I did the season reviews, I often felt fatigued after watching a bunch of episodes from the same season. So, I'll probably watch some season 2 and then mix it up with some other episodes. But I'll be starting with your suggestions.

I was going to make that note about the infamous Sidehackers scene but I never even knew it existed until reading about it here decades after watching the episode. The only suggestion made in watching the MST3K cut is that Ross Hagan gets beaten up and his girlfriend is murdered. I've not since even attempted to research nor watch the removed scene, perfectly satisfied to leave it all alone. Any way, I chose to not draw attention to it. Plus, I hate to see, so many years later, that the episode itself suffers for something that was deliberately excised from it. Mostly because its a really good, funny, episode. Coincidentally, I've noticed that The Girl in Lover's Lane has mostly managed to escape the same aversion among fans.

Ahh, Ive read through that thread and even replied to it last November. But I felt there was more to the "revival... killed my interest in the show entirely for over two years" that goes beyond a fan being disappointed in the reboot - to the point of infringing upon the originals.

Not really. I guess you could say it was like a bad breakup, but I got over it.

Most of the time, I take for granted that a movie would have gaps in continuity. I never noticed when a scene was excised for MST3k.
I did appreciate Ardy in season 11, though I am not yet convinced that all the scenes were being cut for time or comedy rather than censored for content to appease Netflix.

A lot of movies in MST3K don't have good continuity to begin with. So, it's best to not think about it and just enjoy the episode as it is. I think Sidehackers has that reputation because it was the episode where the crew realize that they should have watched the whole movie before licensing. So, that story may make some people not want to see the episode. However, I'm still gonna give it a chance.

Just finished watching another KTMA episode, Gamera. It wasn't too bad. Actually, I found it to be quite a relaxing episode. The movie was watchable goofy fun and the riffs feel like a nice little bonus on top of the film. I enjoyed this one a bit more than K04, probably because I didn't have to listen to squeaky Servo the entire time.

Just finished watching Ring of Terror, with the Phantom Creeps serial chapter.
One reviewer claims that the beauty contest was missing from the print that was shown on MST3K, but I would assume the scene where the women were in one piece bathing suits going on stage, one after the other, was a beauty contest although I don't recall if a winner was announced.
Possibly the scene was cut short in the MST3K version?
That episode, minus commercials ran for 1 hour 36 mins, which was longer than usual, most of the ones shown on Comet lasting 90 mins or less, and occasionally 92 mins.

96-97 minutes was the standard run time for an episode before season 4.

96-97 minutes was the standard run time for an episode before season 4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Comedy Central briefly aired some of those episodes with content cut when the format switched to 92 minutes in season 4. As I recall, fans complained and then they primarily showed the season 2 and 3 shows uncut in a longer time slot at night.
