Just read the news! Pretty cool set, as I've never seen any of these.
I like how there is a (slight) theme: Two Japanese TV shows repurposed into movies Two black & white American horror/thrillers w/ shorts

Time of the Apes and Mighty Jack were "Sandy Frank" films right?

Woah...hold the phone, Shout actually got through to Eiji Tsuburaya's company for Mighty Jack and Time of the Apes? That's a big one. That's a very big one. Could that mean Fugitive Alien is around the corner?
Three sets with Season 3 episodes in a row. Shout is a bloody powerhouse.
And it's a great set too. Time of the Apes, Mighty Jack, and Brute Man are all terrific, and Violent Years is pretty good. Can't wait!

Much agreed with Torgo's comments. I really hope this means we will see Fugitive Alien episodes... and that maybe the next set includes BOTH! Also major favorites! As I posted on the Satellite News page:
Holy @#$%!!! (I know it gets said everytime but…) This is now my favorite boxsets!!! Time of the Apes & The Violent Years are two of my absolute favorite episodes EVER!!! Brute Man is a great episode and Mighty Jack–MORE @#$%ing Season 3 SANDY FRANK episodes! Woohoo!!! This has been a great year (probably the best year) for MST3k box sets–because there have been some great strides made in acquiring the rights of episodes we never thought would see the light of day! Well done, Shout! Now… here’s to hoping these episodes are not in horrible shape like Lost Continent and Beast of Yucca Flats. *fingers crossed*

This is great news indeed. The Violent Years has long been one of my favorites. Plus Time of the Apes, and The Brute Man are solid episodes. Mighty Jack is a real mis-mash and has been hard for me to get through. But I have had pleasant surprises while re-watching The Castle of Fu Manchu & Hamlet in the past so I am hoping for another oh wow moment while watching Mighty Jack.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I'm really miffed that we're still waiting on Track of the Moon Beast. That should be one of the easiest ones to get, yet here we are, some twenty Rhino/Shout! sets in, and still no dice. Now back to your regularly scheduled yay! thread, already in progress.

TIME OF THE APES has always been one of my favorites ever since I first saw it on YouTube a few years ago, and MIGHTY JACK is really underrated. I've only seen THE VIOLENT YEARS and THE BRUTE MAN once, but I remember really liking both, especially the YOUNG MAN’S FANCY short (one of the best). Great set!

I love a set with epps I've never seen, and I've only seen Time of the Apes! Shout! getting with Tsuburaya is massive, maybe they can release some of their Ultraman shows on DVD?

I'm with ya, Moon Beast is a favorite of mine too. It's a public domain movie so it will come out eventually. Hopefully next year. Now, as for Volume 22... Oh hell yes!! Shout! has done it again by getting the rights to some of the Japanese episodes from Season 3, the same company that owns Time of the Apes and Mighty Jack also owns Fugitive Alien I and II, so we may see those two in set next year like they did with the Master Ninja's. This is very exciting! I enjoyed Time of the Apes, while The Violent Years is one of my favorite episodes. I'm really looking foward to having a nice DVD quality copy of that one to replace the copy I downloaded from the Digital Archive Project. I have not seen Mighty Jack or Brute Man before so I'll be happy to finally give them a look. Thank you Shout! Factory!

I am pumped for this set. The only MST3K I've seen is from dvds, so these are all new to me. I've heard great things about each of the episodes. I've enjoyed each of the repackaged tv shows, and each of the Japanese experiments I've seen so far. I'm always happy to have some Ed Wood, and a Rondo Hatton movie is always welcomed.
It might seem silly that Track of the Moon Beast hasn't been released yet, since it's in the public domain. However, there are a bunch of other ones that are, too. Although they would be super cheap to release, you've got to spread them out, so that each volume costs less. Otherwise, they would release a bunch of cheap sets, and then boom, nothing but episodes that are too expensive to release.

This set is very exciting--the season 3 Japanese episodes were some of the first I saw and played a bit part getting me hooked on the show. And The Violent Years has been one of my favorites for a long time. I haven't seen The Brute Man since it first aired, so that should be fun, too.
What most excites me, though, is that in a year's time we've gone from having 4 season 3 eps to 12 in a year (and I suspect we'll get two more with the Fugitive Aliens next year). Of course, that doesn't leave a whole lot of season 3 to be released unless there are some more licensing surprises...
