A 45% cut in pay? I doubt it stays.

I have mixed feelings about this. I love The Simpsons, and I still watch it every week. But, that being said, it's simply not as funny as it once was. There are episodes where I hardly laugh at the jokes. I think the last really high point was "The Simpsons Movie". If it goes, I won't be surprised. I really doubt that the cast would take that much of a pay cut.

I'm indifferent to whether it continues or not. I still watch and enjoy it, but you can't tell me that over 20 seasons isn't enough.
But if they cancel it, they're just going to give that slot to Seth Macfarline, lile they always do. Do we really need any more shows from him?

It's a scare. Fox is horrible at nagotiating. They did the same thing with Futurama 1 year or 2 ago. They make billions of dollars off the show (Through no intillect on their part) and they don't know how to use it. The show's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Considering that the show jumped the shark literally years ago and has never fully recovered, this might actually be for the best.
That said, if Fox ends up denying the show a proper finale, I will get pissed.

I watched it regularly for the first eight or nine seasons then kind of fell out of touch with it. There was talk of it losing its edge back then already and I figured it wouldn't last that much longer anyway. Ten years down the road and it's still rolling. Probably should have known.
That said, it's time. It's a landmark and a legend, what more do they need to do with the show? Give it a good finale and let's turn off Fox forever.

Geeze, why can't Fox give any of its shows a chance? This is just like when they cancelled Firefly. Just Like It!
Seriously, though...I don't want them to cancel the Simpsons, I think that show deserves the chance to pick its own time.
And I cringe at the thought of *even more* Seth MacFarlane.
We get it, Seth. You like non-sequiters that lead into thirty-second visual gags. I understand. Please...move on. You're a talented writer with a promising future, go find...something else, please.

Chances are, even if Fox is the one to give the show the ax over the showrunners, that the show will move on to feature films and finish with a movie. There's supposedly ideas for a second Simpsons movie, but the crew doesn't want to follow any of them through until the end of the series.
I did read an interview with Al Jean stating they already have ideas for episodes for the final season though. They just don't know when it will be.

We get it, Seth. You like non-sequiters that lead into thirty-second visual gags. That's a pretty astute analysis, and could serve as an episode description for virtually every episode of Family Guy after the first few seasons. It was funny at first and then it became so predictable that it was a convenient time to get up and go to the bathroom.

I would have cared about this 12 years ago.

I'm in my early 20s and feel like I just missed out on the Simpsons when it was good. By the time I was interested it was passed it's prime and there were a bunch of alternatives in terms of "adult animation" on TV. As it is, Futurama means a whole lot more to me then The Simpsons.

As far as I'm concerned, The Simpsons ended a long time ago.

I still DVR it but haven't watched an episode in a year or so. I hate to say I wouldn't miss it, but I guess I wouldn't.

Futurama means a whole lot more to me then The Simpsons. It's IMO the better show.
