Thought we might give this a try. Share trailers, news and talk about movies that are coming soon that your looking forward too (or that look stupid to you).
A couple I want to see...
The Skin That I Live In - Almodovar directing something with a horror feel? I hear the movie is indescribable, has a twist that makes it tough to talk about and is going to split audiences.
I seems a little like the classic "Eyes Without a Face" to me. I'm hoping like hell my local art house will be showing it come Oct 14th.
Also...
My Week With Marilyn Release Date: November 4th Synopsis: Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier's, documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl.
I'm drawn to this for the cast. I didn't really know if Michelle Williams was right for the role, but in the little slivers that we see here, I think she looks good, the acting sounds good.
A Dangerous Method Release Date: November 23rd Synopsis: Set on the eve of World War I, A Dangerous Method is based on the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor Sigmund Freud, and Sabina Spielrein, the troubled but beautiful young woman who comes between them.
I like David Cronenberg and Michael Fassbender has become one of my favorite actors. For that alone I'll see it

I think this update version of Zeppelin's Immigrant Song works perfectly with this trailer.

I think this update version of Zeppelin's Immigrant Song works perfectly with this trailer. I'm looking forward to this one too. As much as I usually disapprove of American remakes of Foreign films, and as much as think that the Swedish version was a pretty good adaptation, I gotta say this much: if there was any director who could do the book justice, it's David Fincher.

That's one I'll have to see, though it does look like it follows the exact same lines as the original (and at that point, what's the point of watching it)... but maybe Fincher will put in his own spin and make it unique (as "Let Me In" did with "Let the Right One in")

This is a good idea for a thread, MJ. I tried to earlier come up with a thread called "Trailer Talk", but that didn't seem to pan out. You've got better insights on these films, so I'd like to see how this one goes. Okay, those fades in and out of black are really irritating to my eyes. Whoever is this company that seems to be cutting all these trailers desperately needs a competitor. All I really wanted to say about that is that it reminded me about tidbits I read about a film called Goodnight, Sweet Marilyn which I haven't seen myself. The gist of most of the criticisms is that the film was highly slanderous and unflattering towards the late actress. There is another film that I haven't seen in years called Insignificance where Marilyn Monroe is one of four main characters alongside Albert Einstein and Joseph McCarthy. I might like to try watching that again if only to understand it better.

While it's not due for another year. Casting news keeps rolling in for Bond 23 (they cast Malfoy's mother recently) Despite some disappointment with the last release, I am getting pumped for this one. It has a great director (Sam Mendes) and a great group of actors (including Javier Bardem as the main baddie). The link above offers more performer notes and plot speculation.

talk about movies that ... look stupid to you as for what looks stupid, i'm gonna have to go with "the three musketeers." the preview looks really vapid, which is particularly annoying because the 70s original "three musketeers" and "four muskateers" were actually surprisingly talky and densely plotted. (and directed by the great richard lester!) so naturally they had to go back and remake them and carefully excise all the substance from them. bah! can someone please start an "occupy hollywood" movement already?

A large part of me died inside watching that trailer. What a waste of Maads Mikkelson.

“The Secret World of Arrietty”, the new film from Studio Ghibli. Myazaki didn’t direct, but he is credited as a writer. It is supposed to get a wide release in Feb of 2012.
I never was that enthused by the Borrowers (even as a kid) but the animation looks great. I think I’ll have to give this one a go.

Trailers for movies creating a buz in 2012.
First up - Snow White and the Huntsman - Which is about a strange, scary world where Kristen Stewart is considered fairer than Charlize Theron.
2nd trailer for the anticipated The Hunger Games. Adapted from young adult novel - stars the talented Jennifer Lawrence
And in January: Sure it looks like Bourne or Salt, but I'm looking farward to because I love Stephen Soderbergh (well, when he's not making Ocean's flicks). Filmed in Ireland, it boasts a great cast.

i saw a preview for "haywire" in the theater tonight waiting for "immortals." seems out of character for soderbergh, but then again every one of his flicks seems out of character in comparison to the last one, so...

Just saw this at Tomatoes. Woo hoo hoo hoo!! More glorious action packed idiocy for me to enjoy! Is that music from Inception, or just Inception-like?
