Rowsdower! 909 - Gorgo-Same as before, British Gojira 910 - Final Sacrifice-Similar idea as before, the Canadian flag with a bit of satanism and red sweaterism thrown in. 911 - Devil Fish-This is new, and one of my favorites. Not much to explain here; devil, fish, and you've got it.

Back from a longer than expected Xmas break 912 - the Screaming Skull-Same as before, highlighting the gullwing Mercedes, indisputable star of the film. 913 - Quest of the Delta Knights-Basically the same as before, a Pacman inspired design questioning where in the world this could possibly take place. 1001 - Soultaker-Same as before. Glowing things are neat.

Nearing the end, when I can finally stop annoying everyone. 1002 - the Girl in Gold Boots-This is new. I found this picture and thought it was perfect. Her skirt makes a perfect marquee for the title, and it's almost sexy but not quite, just like the film. 1003 - Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders-Same as before, creepy cymbal banging monkey. You almost have to admire the insanity of cutting together three Tales from the Crypt style short horror stories and passing it off as a children's film. 1004 - Future War-Same, cardboard boxes and little dinosaurs. The only thing missing is huge fat guys. I almost made this a JC Van Damme parody, but all his movie posters are extremely generic.

I love the Soultaker one you made. Thanks, that's one of my favorites as well, although the film made it easy to make. Even though it's not well made, the idea and the visuals are fairly strong. I'd put it up there with Time Chasers as MST films I give a break because it seemed like everyone gave a strong effort with minimal resources available. Basically, it wasn't a Corman style cash grab. Sargassum, weed of deceit: how I loathe you! 1005 - the Blood Waters of Dr. Z-This is the same. As simple as it is, I can't even take credit for it. While I redrew it myself, the design for the angry, gun toting evolution fish came from Tim Dorsey, a funny Florida author for anyone interested. Also, Crow imitating the insanely angry narration is one of the funniest things they ever did. It perfectly fits Crow's insanity in the Bill Corbett era and his tendency to get way too involved in the movie they're watching. 1006 - Boggy Creek 2: the Legend Continues-This is similar to the old one. I couldn't find the old radar screen, and I decided to use a happy, waving bog monster. I like to think that the monster is actually really happy, nice and wants friends, but is constantly antagonized by jerks like Doctor Insufferable, Crenshaw, outhouse guy, etc. It's not really a difficult thing to imagine. 1007 - Track of the Moon Beast-Same as before: Chicken, corn, green peppers, chili, onions.. There are a bunch of different cover ideas from the film, but this artwork was simply too good to pass up. Here's the original for anyone interested. Great job AlexanderLeon.

Yaaaay... We're going caving! 1008 - Final Justice-This is essentially the same, based on a cover Mitchell made for, well, Mitchell. 1009 - Hamlet-This is the same. I've only tried to watch Hamlet once, and I basically zoned out the entire time. So, nothing creative here. 1010 - It Lives By Night-This is almost the same. It's a basic batman/spelunking mashup, with the old bat symbol this time. I've always wanted to use that shot of Batman skiing for something, so that made me happy. Also, for some reason I accidentally titled the cover "It Comes by Night." I looked it up on IMDB, and I'm amazed there's no movie with that title. It seems so obvious.

This is the end, my only friend, the end... 1011 - Horrors of Spider Island-Same as before. I found the bra picture at an online store, and thought it best represented what the movie is about. 1012 - Squirm-Same. I'm not sure how well this picture conveys the idea of worms marching towards wormtown, but it's just so beautiful. I couldn't resist. I think I missed an opportunity to make a real Criterion looking cover with this one. Even I can draw a worm. Also, I think this is the only time I had a graphic cover up the movie poster. Coily demands your attention. 1013 - Diabolik-Essentially the same. I was actually sad while making this. There's something so final about that shot in Mike's apartment. Anyway, this was inspired by the minimalist sleeve for the Social Network BD. Diabolik's nihilistic attitude really irritates me, so that's where this comes from. Thanks to Ijon (or Hara Gunsou now I think) for helping out with the Japanese characters. I totally forgot to throw the final copy by him, so hopefully it's alright. I can only read English and Latin, so the whole cover could be wrong for all I know. But wait, there's more... Scotty asked if I could do covers for the Shorts, and I threw some together. There's six in all, so there's a couple more days of posts. If anyone else has other requests, let me know.

Hey, why not do one for The Green Slime, just for the heck of it?

Hara-gunsou dies at the end of his film; just call me Ijon.
A truly great run. I'm with samu, any excuse to make more. You should check out the Gamma I quadrilogy (they'd have made great experiments).
As to Latin, I recollect vita detestabilis from Orff. What's the Latin for "movie"?

I'll have to think of Green Slime. That's not a bad idea, but I've never watched the movie, and haven't seen that MST pilot in a long time. It could be awhile. Now you're somebody else. SHAPE SHIFTER! For some reason I've heard of Gamma I, but I have no clue why. It sounds like a winner. As for the Latin for "movie," that's a tough one. Latin essentially died with the Roman Empire, so the language is basically stuck in ancient times. Yet, we have so many modern words based on Latin, like "movie." So, basically, the Latin for "movie" is "movie", or maybe "movus" or "movis". When you're making things up so many years out of school, it's hard to remember rules. I'm sure there's people online who make entire modern Latin dictionaries, but those people frighten me. I just want to be able to understand Vergil and Ovid. And... that was boring and stupid. Here's the final hurrah until I fulfill any odd requests. It's been fun, and thanks for everyone who took the time to look at these and check them out, and especially to those who commented. If anyone's interested in being able to download these all at once (or at least a few seasons at a time), I can host them somewhere. I'd have done it already, but they're a big group (over a gig), so it would take awhile to do. Mr. B's Lost Shorts-When I was pondering whether to even bother with making shorts covers, I thought of this. Everything snowballed after that. "You're hot Mr. B!" Poopie-After I made the front of this cover, I realized I had no idea what to put on the back. That's why it's basically just random pictures I had on my hard drive that I liked. MST Scrapbook-This was fun to do. If you've never been to the genesis page on the official site, there's a great slideshow of old photographs (where all the Polaroids came from). The shot of Kevin with Mike and Josh is particularly good. It's like the alpha to the omega of MST3k. Also, if you write out MST Scrapbook without any spacing, it looks like a very different word. I laughed like a 10 year old every time I looked at the file name.

I was looking at the case for some horror movie today, and it had glowing eyes on silhouettes. That got me thinking about Space Children, since those kids are totally evil and possessed. These jerk kids are actually worse than Lee Van Cleef in It Conquered the World, as Lee at least still had free will and made a mistake. The only difference is that this particular pathetic looking alien wasn't looking to take over the earth, yet. So, here's another cover for the Space Children. Glowing eyes on creepy kids is an ancient cliche, but I think it's perfect for this movie. Enjoy. click preview for full size
