I loved Joe, he was my favorite fighter in a great era for Heavyweight fighters. The guys was a tough, fireplug... but he also had a quick delivery. People remember Ali as fast and elusive, but in those 3 battles with Ali, Joe's quick, devastating left hooks would dart in so fast even Ali couldn't avoid it.
George Forman proved to be his kryptonite (too big, too strong.... even for Joe) but he'll always be considered one of the greats in my mind.
Rest in peace Smokin' Joe.

Last year, I was on a vintage boxing kick, and put a bunch of classic fights on dvd in chronological order. It probably started with the controversial Clay/Liston match, and included guys like Frazier, Foreman, Wepner, Hagler, Hearns and Leonard. It was a joy to watch. I know boxing has always been corrupt, but at least those guys weren't afraid to fight each other, and there were true title fights on a regular basis.
RIP Joe. You'll always be a legend.

"Smokin' Joe Frazier."
I'll always remember the way Howard Cosell said that.
R.I.P. Joe.
