Oops, no I didn't. I actually missed the USB port on the back because it's recessed into the console. I just looked it up online and figured out where it was. Sometimes I have a problem with not looking as hard as I should I'll give it a shot when I get home. Thanks for the reminder.

Just checked it out. No luck. It keeps coming up "unable to operate this disc." I think I will stay away from the cleaners and see what comes up in the future. Thanks for the help, all!

Well, that blows. You might want to shoot Universal customer service an email. It can be like talking to a wall, but sometimes people get helpful advice, or a replacement disc. At the very least, you get to pretend you're an old man writing a complaint letter.

That's actually not a bad idea. Why not. I don't plan on returning the set anyway, why not see what happens? I'll keep an eye out for solutions.
By the way, what do you play discs on, plissken?

I have a Sony BDP-S270. When my Memorex bricked, I wanted something cheap, nearby, with the ability to play video files via a USB, and wouldn't be abandoned by the manufacturer. I found the S270 at Walmart for 100 bucks, and picked it up. Fortunately, I haven't had a single problem with it.
My brother in law has two PS3s. They're always up to date and work perfectly, but I have no interest in modern, non-Zelda, video games. Combine that with the high cost of the unit and lack of remote control options, and, well, screw the PS3.
