Hello! I'm kind of new on the board. I noticed a thread a little ways down mentionin Svengoolie, and I came up with a question I wanted to ask everybody - Namely, outside of MST3k, what's your favorite "horror host" type show? Is it your regional host? A national host? A host you remember from your childhood? And why do you remember that host so fondly?

I suppose I might as well reply to my own post:
If I had to pick a favorite horror host, I'd say either Elvira or Svengoolie. Elvira because she was the first horror-host I was exposed to (we have a copy of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" hosted by her that we taped off TV in the very early 80's) - and Svengoolie because he was the local host in Chicago, where I lived for a couple years.

Joe-Bob Briggs was pretty good, but in Northern California no one held a candle to Bob Wilkins.

I grew up with Joe Bob Briggs and Monster-Vision. I wasn't exposed to anything else until I was older, so Joe-Bob set the standard.

I grew up with Svengoolie but Elvira is a close second for me.

Be sure to stop by and officially introduce yourself.

Yeah, there are formalities, you know. But c'mon back down to Games soon as you finish the paperwork!

I'd say Elvira and for two very good reasons.

Careful, Dow-Corning would sue Phanco if he did.

Good point. I guess I'll just have to find my "Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark" DVD's.
